Tutoring is also available to ensure student success in the program. Our instructors are primarily masters-prepared licensed nurses who share career experiences and relate classroom subjects to actual clinical experiences. The Practical Nursing program offers the potential to earn credit towards completion of an RN program at area colleges. The Chester County Intermediate Unit Practical Nursing Program receives support through the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Improvement Act of 2006 (Perkins IV). This act is designed to help all students develop their academic, career, and technical skills to prepare for high-skill, high-wage, and high-demand occupations in current or emerging professions. The act places an increased focus on the academic achievement of career and technical education students, improves state and local accountability, and strengthens the connections between secondary and postsecondary education through the development and implementation of Career and Technical Programs of Study. Clinical Experience Students receive in excess of 750 hours of clinical expe-rience. Clinical rotations begin early and run concurrently with classroom instruction. On-site rotations are con-ducted in cooperation with, among others, Brandywine Hospital, The Chester County Hospital, Pocopson Home, Bryn Mawr Rehabilitation Hospital, and at vari-ous community care organizations. Clinical experience is gained in the following health-related fields: gerontol-ogy, pediatrics, maternity, rehabilitation, and behavioral health.
