Anastasia Dewi Titisari, M.T., Ph.D. Buffalo Reef is one of the important gold prospects located in the north of Selinsing gold mine is still active as a gold mine, located in Pahang region of Peninsular Malaysia. The purpose of this study was to understand the mineralogy and geochemical characteristics of sediment and knowing Buffalo Reef gold deposit. The method of analysis undertaken in this study is the petrographic, X-ray fluorescence and X-ray diffraction test AAS (Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy). The results of petrographic analysis and X-ray fluorescence showed alteration seritasation and chloritisation with the presence of oxidized pyrite. Gold mineralization occurs in quartz veins are oxidized in the presence of stibnite. Pyrite, arsenopyrite, chalcopyrite and sulfide mineral stibnite is the main gold mineralization at Buffalo Reef. XRF geochemical analyzes show SiO 2 content ranges from 24.98wt% to 70.67wt%. The diagram Na2O + K2O (total alkali) vs. SiO2 showed positive and random distribution. Samples MBR423_4 and MBR427_2 classified in the ore with SiO2 values of 24.89wt% to 38.07wt% which shows the rocks in the study area is basaltic andesites, andesite and dacite series. Half of it tuff, lapilli tuff and limestone. The prospect area is composed by thick sequences of Permian rock especially the various tuffaceous volcanic rock, interbedded locally with argillaceous rock (argilite, phyllite) and carbonate rocks. The mineralization is associated with volcanic rocks and pyroclastic tuff. Gold deeposit interpreted formed by the orogenic proces and controlled by the structure Raub Bentong on epizonal and mesazonal area characterized by the presence of gold, stibnite and arsenopyrite with mesothermal type deposit. Buffalo Reef adalah salah satu prospek emas penting yang terletak di

sebelah utara Tambang emas Selinsing yang masih aktif sebagai sebagai tambang

emas yang terletak di daerah Pahang Semenanjung Malaysia. Tujuan dari

penelitian ini adalah untuk memahami karakteristik mineralogi dan geokimia dari

endapan Buffalo Reef serta mengetahui genesa endapan emas.

Metode analisis yang dijalankan dalam penelitian ini adalah petrografi, X-

ray fluoresensi difraksi sinar-X dan uji AAS (Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy).

Hasil analisis petrografi dan X-ray fluoresensi menunjukkan adanya alterasi

seritisasi dan chloritisasi dengan kehadiran pirit teroksidasi. Mineralisasi emas

terjadi pada urat kuarsa yang teroksidasi dengan kehadiran stibnit. Pirit,

arsenopirit, kalkopirit dan stibnit adalah sulfida mineral utama pada mineralisasi

emas di Buffalo Reef. Analisis geokimia XRF memperlihatkan kandungan SiO2

berkisar dari 24.98wt% hingga 70.67wt%.. Manakala plotting pada diagram Na2O

+ K2O (total alkali) vs SiO2 menunjukkan positif dan random distribusi. Sampel

MBR423_4 dan MBR427_2 tergolong dalam bijih dengan nilai SiO2 dari

24.89wt% hingga 38.07wt% dimana menunjukkan batuan di daerah penelitian

adalah basaltik andesit, andesit dan dasit siri. Sebahagian berupa tuff, lapilli

tuffdan batu gamping.

Daerah prospek tersusun oleh batuan berumur Permian berupa sequen

tebal dari batuan volkanik tufaan berselingan secara setempat-setempat dengan

batu lempung (argilit,filit) dan batuan karbonat. Mineralisasi berasosiasi dengan

batuan vulkanik tufaan dan piroklastik. Deeposit emas diinterpretasikan

terbentuk oleh process orogenik dan dikontrol oleh struktur Raub Bentong pada

daerah epizonal dan mesazonal yang dicirikan dengan kehadiran emas, stibnite

dan arsenopirit dengan tipe mesothermal deposit. Kadar emas daerah prospek

didapatkan dari AAS adalah 4.01 g / t Au.
