Yellow nail syndrome--the triad of yellow nails, lymphedema and pleural effusions. A review of the literature and a case report
Nordkild P, Kromann-Anderson H, Struve-Christensen E: Acta Med Scand 219:221-227, 1986

HLA antigens, jejunal morphology and associated diseases in children with dermatitis herpetiformis
Koskimies S, Reunala T, Gy'odi E, et al: Acta Paediatr Stand 75:297-301, 1986
A study of forty-five children with dermatitis herpetiformls showed many to have the HLA-B8 antigen as expected. About 20% of the patients had atopic dermatitis, and more of these lacked the association with HLA-BS. The worse the intestinal lesions the more often HLA-B8 is found.

Ultrasound examination of skin thickness in patients with progressive systemic sclerosis (seleroderma)
Akesson A, Forsberg L, Hederstrom E, et al: Acta Radiol 27:91-94, 1986
The ultrasonic technique for measuring skin thickness seems to be searching for a use. Perhaps readers can think of an important o n e .

Fetal activity in pregnancies complicated by systemic lupus erythematosus
Aboulafia Y, Sadovsky E, Simon A, et al: Arch Gynecol 237:181-185, 1986
Pregnancy is made more dangerous if the mother has systemic lupus erythematesus. Fetal movements are impaired as shown here. A sudden decrease in fetal movement is one sign that may alert the obstetrician to deliver the baby.

The effects of an aromatic retinoid (etretinate) on epidermal cell production and metabolism in normal and ichthyotic patients
Pearse AD, Gaskell SA, Marks R: Br J Dermatol 114:285- 294, 1986
The concept of a drug acting as a "normalizer" of epidermal metabolism invites further explanation, Etretinate seems to correct many diverse disorders without much changing cell kinetics or the morphology of epidermis. This study uses the new Quantimet image analyzer.

IgG subclasses in acne vulgaris
Holland DB, Ingham E, Gowland G, et ah Br J Dermatol 114:349-351, 1986
Mild ache induces no IgG oddities but severe ache, if prolonged, does. Increases in IgG: and IgG~ are reported. No deficiencies in IgG were noted.

Evaluation of a therapeutic strategy for the treatment of acne vulgaris with conventional therapy
Greenwood R, Burke B, Cunliffe WJ: Br J Dermatol 114:353-358, 1986
Erythromycin with benzoyl peroxide was a successful strategy for patients with moderate acne, if therapy was rigorous and sustained long enough.
