AC Schnitzer – Technology transfer from motorsport to the road.

Since the 1960s, the Schnit-

zer brothers have celebrated

victories with BMW in Touring

Car series on almost every race

track in the world. Above all the

„Green Hell“ – as motorsport

fans call the Nürburgring – is

inseparably linked with the

Schnitzer racing history. Since

these early beginnings, we at

AC Schnitzer have systematically

applied the knowledge obtained

from motorsport to our product

development. The Nürburgring is

still the AC Schnitzer „test track“.

Here all components from the

AC Schnitzer product range must

prove their performance and

durability under realistic racing

conditions. Only in this way can

they combine suitability for eve-

ryday use on the road with the

sporting performance you can

expect from AC Schnitzer.

Perhaps it‘s this special enthusiasm which links the countless race wins of the Schnitzer brothers with the legendary innovation of AC Schnitzer products.

Preventative Strike Against Mediocrity.

Even in standard form, the BMW

3-series sets above-average

standards in terms of driving

comfort and performance. So to

refine such an already superb

car was a new challenge to our

engineers. But the result is even

less compromising than ever

before.

Uncompromisingly sporting, inno-

vative, dynamic. The only compro-

mise we traditionally accept is in

driving comfort. Here we combine

the benefits of the series vehicle

with a more sporting suspension

set-up – with a simultaneous

increase in passive safety and

active driving pleasure.

The Nürburgring – known as the „Green Hell“ for generations of motorsport enthusiasts – is still used as the test track for AC Schnitzer development engineers.

Motorsport technology meets everyday use.

The entire AC Schnitzer accesso-

ry range is designed to combine

greater driving pleasure, more

dynamics and more exclusivity

with the driving comfort and usa-

bility of the standard product.

One thing is evident: as always

in motorsport, all components

meet the highest quality stan-

dard. This ideal combination

of motorsport engineering and

suitability for everyday use is

ensured at AC Schnitzer in lengthy

test procedures throughout

product development.

The test procedure includes

countless test laps of the

„Green Hell“ – some under

realistic race conditions – and

long journeys on motorways and

country roads, together with

short trips in city traffic.

In addition, production of AC

Schnitzer special accessories is

entrusted only to suppliers who

meet all manufacturing stan-

dards, which means that the

BMW factory warranty remains

unaffected – motorsport engi-

neering in series quality.Resistance is pointless: AC Schnitzer aero-dynamic package for saloon and Touring without BMW M-Technik pack, consisting of: front spoiler and rear skirt; rear spoiler for saloon only, and sports mirrors.

Performance upgrades define new class of efficiency.

The combination of high torque

and so far unsurpassed efficien-

cy means that diesel engines are

now appreciated by all enthusi-

astic drivers. And here too, BMW

is setting standards. An ideal

starting point then for the AC

Schnitzer engine specialists to

redefine the performance limits

of the series vehicle. Without

increasing fuel consumption

and emissions, the diesel power

plants with the AC Schnitzer

performance upgrades reach

totally new dimensions. The

AC Schnitzer sports rear silencer

is available for all models. Made

of stainless steel, it optimises

gas flow and provides an exclu-

sive finishing touch both visually

and acoustically.

The concept of performance isn’t restricted to the engine bay.

What‘s the use of the best per-

formance if it can‘t be transfer-

red to the floor. That‘s as true

of the stock market as it is of

the road. Engine power alone

won‘t bring faster lap times.

The optimum transfer of

power to the road is the real

challenge. A challenge which

has been met particularly well

by AC Schnitzer suspension

specialists led by racing driver

Manfred Wollgarten. So well

that even experienced moto-

ring journalists have gone into

raptures.

Custom-made: AC Schnitzer sports suspen-sion is matched precisely to each model.

Manfred Wollgarten – known as the „suspen-sion guru“ to all enthusiasts.

We’ve spent a few laps on suspension set-up: All AC Schnitzer racing suspension (adjust-able) and sports suspension kits with special springs and dampers (bottom pictures) are carefully matched to the specific vehicle in extensive tests – including on the Nürburg-ring. The antiroll bar kit for the rear axle counters any wheel tilt (right picture).

Faster is better than hard.

This motto for suspension tech-

nology from AC Schnitzer may

appear simple, but its practical

implementation is complex. For

each model, it‘s about finding

the perfect combination of dri-

ving comfort and dynamics. For

Coupé, Cabrio, Saloon or Tou-

ring – the AC Schnitzer sport

or racing suspension lowers

the vehicle by approx. 25 to

30 mm. Special dampers and

springs have been matched

to the specific model under all

conceivable driving conditions,

including in conjunction with

the limited slip differential

(locking 0-75%). In extensive

test drives on the track, the

motorway and country roads,

the AC Schnitzer suspension

specialists find the perfect set-

up, with the emphasis on the

ideal combination of the high

comfort level of the standard

vehicle and more sporting sus-

pension characteristics from

The torsional rigidity is perceptibly increased by the use of strut braces.

The striking AC Schnitzer aerodynamics emphasise the masculine traits of the 3-series cabrio. With a closed hardtop, it could be mistaken for a coupé.

The striking way to reduce drag.

Sporting body design is always

a matter of aerodynamics. Front

spoiler, side skirts or rear skirt

are not just aesthetic accessori-

es, but make a decisive contri-

bution to the optimum balance

between front and rear axle.

As well as this balance of lift and

downforce, air flow within the

vehicle is a further important

aspect. The generously dimensi-

oned air ducts on the AC Schnit-

zer front skirt not only improve

cooling for brakes and oil circuits,

but with their striking design also

provide enhanced overtaking

prestige.

For further refinement of the

sporting appearance with bright

accents, there is the Chromline

variant. This provides a special vi-

sual highlight for the side skirts of

all body variants - worth seeing.

Nowhere is the evolutionary

process of innovative wheel de-

sign clearer than in the design

line by AC Schnitzer. Constant

refinement of the classic five-

spoke design always adds new

facets to our trademark.

The Classic: The AC Schnitzer

alloy wheel Type II for the

3-series is available in 19" with

tyre sizes up to 225/35 R19

front and 255/30 R19 rear.

The Innovative: With its variable

spoke concept, the AC Schnitzer

Type III wheel, available as a

multipiece racing rim or one-

piece alloy in sizes from 17" to

19" for the 3-series, offers a

wide choice.

Type VI one-piece in 18” Type VI multipiece in 20”

Type IV in 18” and 19” Type III in 17”, 18” and 19”

The Avantgarde: A fresh inter-

pretation of the classic 5-spoke

design, the AC Schnitzer Type IV

sets new standards as an alloy

and racing rim. With variable

chrome elements or in BiColor

finish, there are many variants

in sizes 18" to 20" for the

3-series.

The Hybrid design: With an ap-

pealing mix of the five-spoke rim

and Y-spokes, the AC Schnitzer

wheel Type VI crosses all former

boundaries of design. The 3-se-

ries driver can choose between

single and multipiece variants in

18" and 20".

That fine driving feeling.

The systematic transfer of

technology and design from

the track to the road gives the

driver that authentic motorsport

feeling. Nowhere is this clearer

than in the ACS3. The numerous

interior components from

AC Schnitzer give an incompa-

rable driving ambience.

AC Schnitzer sports airbag stee-

ring wheels are ergonomically

designed and refined with high

quality leather or carbon appli-

cations. To match, the carbon

interior trim in silver “Exclusive”

completes the sophisticated

overall picture.

As well as ultralight carbon,

wherever the driver makes

contact with the vehicle – by

sight or touch – he finds the

almost equally light aluminium

with a fine brushed surface: foot

rests and pedals, gear knob,

handbrake handle and – as the

finishing touch – an aluminium

cover with AC Schnitzer logo for

the i-Drive system.

Fine, f ine: The AC Schnitzer carbon interior trim, Evo 3-spoke sports airbag steering wheel, aluminium cover for the BMW i-Drive system, gear knob, aluminium pedals, handbrake handle and velours foot mats – all combine to create that authentic motorsport ambience.
