Qualifications for each rank: Instructor:

A master degree (or equivalent teaching &experience).

Assistant Professor:

A doctor or terminal degree; Or masters degree and completion of three yearsof college teaching.

Associate Professor:

A doctorate or terminal degree;

Has held the rank of Assistant Professor for atleast four years;

At least six years of successful college teaching.

s/he is teaching; Has held the rank of Associate Professor for fiveyears;

Is a tenured member of the faculty.

Professor Emeritus: Faculty member retiring from active service; Has tenure and has completed at least fifteen yearsof service to the University in faculty rank;

Not automatic, the honor should be served forthose who have excelled throughout his/her careersas teacher.

Teaching Assistant (TA):

Graduate students; Whom plays a supportive role involving grading,review sessions, and labs; Teaching fellows teach entire courses.

Adjunct Instructor: Part-time non-salaried, non-tenure track facultymembers who are paid for each class they teach. Does not always requires a completed PhD.
