About B.P.I.E. Group The P.T.P:

The BPEI, entrusted P.T.P., evolved as a Social Welfare and Philanthropic Organization

in 2007. The Cherished mission of the Organization is to Spread Education and Technical Skill

among the youths of Rural Bengal. With this mission ahead we took the responsibility of

being the P.T.P for 13 no’s of Govt. ITI (PPP model) spreading over 05 Districts of West Bengal. We have endeavored rightly to achieve the best.

INTRODUCTION

Mahindra Pride Classroomis a flagship Corporate Social Responsibility Livelihood program of the Mahindra

group and is fully implemented by Naandi Foundation. Our training program equipped the students with

the required skills for employment.

We would like to convey our heartfelt thanks to Mr Kaushik Pal, Registrar of Bishnupur Public Institute of

Engineering (BPIE) for giving us the opportunity to implement employability training program for 10

Government ITI (PPP Model) across West Bengal. Special Thanks to all Government ITI (PPP Model)

Principals, Coordinators, Instructors and supporting staff who helped us in all way possible to make the

training program a grant success.

After the proposal and subsequent discussions to facilitate the program in the end of 2018 by training in

two of Govt. ITI(PPP Model) in Debra and Keshpur, the program conducted by Mahindra Pride Classroom

was successful and the program gave us a tremendous learning.

Before the commencement of the training session in all the 10 Govt. ITI (PPP Model), West Bengal a

workshop was conducted for our existing trainers focusing on the scope of conducting the training

program for ITI students and preparation of framework keeping in mind the background where the ITI

students hail from.

The content or module for the program has been mapped and worked in consultation with our content

team in Hyderabad. The trainers were given special workshop on content to ensure uniformity which is a

significant aspect. The content has been framed in order for the employment quotient and standardized all

over the 10 ITI in West Bengal.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Mahindra Pride Classroom training on Employability Skill Development was organised successfully in 10 ITI

across West Bengal.

The participants included all Batch students from branches like Fitter, Welder, Turner, Surveyor, Mechanic

Diesel Etc.

Coaches from Mahindra Pride Classroom were experts in Employability Skill, Life Skills,

Interview Skills, and Soft Skills. In preparation for this training a study was undertaken by Mahindra Pride

Classroom to identify each student’s internal strengths and weaknesses and mould them to a state where

they are ready to step foot from Campus to Corporate.

Mahindra Pride Classroom aim is the overall development of the students. Most of the student’s goal is to get any job soon after their course. The students get all their meticulous detail in their curricula, the

standards fail to address one important factor: the psychological barriers that stand between many

students and their deeper learning. Unless students are motivated to take on the new standards, and

persuaded to take up the challenges, the common goal could have the unintended effect of leaving many

students further behind.

The training by Mahindra Pride Classroom has given each student a new vision to their life. They now

strongly believe that they can be successful in their lives with some values and the ultimate goal is not just

any job, Mahindra Pride Classroom has given them a strong push and have improved their confidence.

Our lesson plan covered Interactive sessions which provide engaging activity style interaction amongst the

students. Every lesson plan we have framed has an objective behind it:

• To help students to develop a positive self-image and identify their positive qualities

• To remind students of their positive values that they have learnt and inculcate respect for human

kind.

• Help students aware of the importance of etiquettes and manners at home and in the society.

• Awaken in each student the importance and joy of being compassionate.

• Guide students realize the importance of commitment to job, growth of opportunities and

relocation.

• Make students bring out and identify themselves the creativity in them.

• Help students to have an idea of how to communicate to customers in basic business language

• Help students organize their thoughts and explain a process step by step

• Impart in students how to gain confidence and develop their public speaking developing their

confidence and language skills

• Groom students for a formal GD during interview process and public speaking

• Prepare the students how to face an Interview through conducting a mock interview session

• Recommendations were made by the students on the next steps after this training. An evaluation done

at the end of the training, scored the students opinion of the training and trainers individually.

Note on Mahindra Pride Classroom Team on Our Experience with ITI

Students…

The curriculum on the whole was very beautifully designed keeping into mind the background the students

belong to. The trainers had taken different sessions which were well paced. We conducted 3 sessions per

day and each of these sessions had its due importance in shaping student’s personality. Almost all sessions

had activities which were not the run of the mill type. We ensured that all the students showed great

enthusiasm to participate in the same. The beauty of our training program, we believe, is that it has led to

the overall development of most of the students and not just in the communication skills. It is remarkable

that such a colossal change could be brought about in majority of the students, given the time constraints.

Sessions like resume building, public speaking, group discussions and interview preparation were planned

keeping in mind the real necessity of ITI students. These sessions had managed to give the students the

right exposure. Instant feedback was given to each student which helped them correct their mistake. All the

students of the class were given the opportunity to equally participate in all the activities and were

evaluated individually which ensured that no student was left out. This is one of the major reasons why

many students who never even came up on stage had actually come and performed. For the first time some

students realised that they are no less than others and that they can improve.

The last 2 days of the training program were about the mock recruitment process. Students were asked to

come in formals and were evaluated on this day. Extempore was conducted in all the batches and the best

part of it was the fact that after 4 days of training, all students had gathered enough courage and

confidence to speak about any random topic without even having the time to think about the topic, and

most importantly without stage fear. On the last personal interviews were conducted by our coaches to

give them the feel of facing an interview before hand. Undoubtedly it was conducted very professionally

and after each interview, the student received feedback on areas of improvement. Immediate feedback

after each interview was really very effective. The trainers were truly top notch and they ensured that their

confidence and energy radiated all along. A clear indication of the impact they created was the fact that on

all training days almost all the students were present. Certificate of participation has also been awarded to

all the students who attended Mahindra Pride Classroom Training. Since ITI is a highly demanding

profileand have higher chances of developing a career out of it. Thanks to ITI (PPP MODEL) initiative for

bringing out this concept to the real needy ones. All our students were passionate and gogetting attitude.

We were amazed by the changes in the initial few days of training itself. They were willing to do the tasks

and shared their stories. Many were wounded humans inside. They opened up, and then promised that they

will never give up in life and will face life with positivity. Students told that they benefitted much out of

sessions like Most of our sessions gave them an opportunity to present themselves in front of others. They

started developing positive attitude towards the end and we winded up with a few really touching

moments.

Being a free training program, ensured we didn’t compromise on our quality and commitment. This training

program was truly top notch and we would be grateful to conduct more training sessions in the years to

come. A big thank to all the Principals and Coordinators for supporting us immensely all through the

training sessions.

Govt. ITI (PPP Model), no doubt created a desired impact on the students. Most of the students were from

financially backward families. Students were very receptive and enthusiastic. There were students in both

the batches who were doing part-time jobs on evenings, nights and weekends to support their studies as

well as their families. A lot of students have the preconceived idea that Mahindra Pride Classroom came to

preach English, so also, they were taken aback when they discovered the changes that were happening

within them as well as in their friends. Students were comparatively passionate, all of them attended the

Mock interview.

The training was a great experience as the transformation in the students were visible. By the end of the

training most of them were confident to speak in public and secure the right attitude and confidence. For

all the students in ITI it was a new experience. They voiced their happiness and enthusiasm in all the

feedbacks we collected. Most students voiced that it was the first time they are facing an audience and

were amazed to see the difference in their confidence at the end of day five. A few came and apologized to

our coaches for behaving naughty in certain sessions. This gesture really shows the impact of our training.

By the end of the day of the interview all of them came well-groomed and showcased confidence.

CONCLUSION

ITI (PPP Model) had given us good takeaways. Every day has been a new learning for us. Every student had a compelling story to tell. Every institute has a story to tell. In this course of our training at ITI, the closure of the project has been examined from all angles, and ways of implementing new strategies and improving techniques in the upcoming projects have been discussed among our team. During the course of the training program various unexpected challenges were faced by the coordinating team and the trainers with regard to the Brigade and rains. In order to develop program and make it more efficient these challenges have to be dealt with utmost importance. These challenges hinder program, morale of the donors and coordinating team as the beneficiaries need to be delivered completely which is the utmost goal of the program. In general, our aims and objectives of this training project at ITI across West Bengal in 2018-19 have been successfully attained. Mahindra Pride Classroom training outcomes is a total success for our team. We thank each one of them who have been constantly supporting us all through the project. “Kind words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless”.

This wouldn’t have been possible without your presence, and we wouldn’t be doing any justice to you all by just expressing our gratitude in mere words. Nevertheless, Mahindra Pride Classroom expresses its deepest sense of gratitude for being part of the training project with ITI. The training program that we conducted in your esteemed institutions across West Bengal for the final year students in Employability Skills received a huge acceptance. The students while interacting with our coaches at the end of all sessions shared that they could sense a positive impact in their lives and also, they found, the training sessions were enlightening. It was a real surprise experience for us to know that 1591 students benefitted through our training programme. It was a noble experience to see such a huge crowd of young aspiring crowd of students. The facilities ITI has arranged for the program was well organized. We thank each institute principal for giving us an immense support throughout the programme. Executive Summary

● In Basic Education there runs a popular proverb Earn while you learn and learn while you earn. The

students of Balarampur Govt. ITI has proved this doctrine to be true in a different way. A recent case

history reveals that this Balarampur Govt. ITI run and managed by BPEI under PPP model has made an

instance of serving the society and catering the social needs right from their educational Centre.

● The fact revels that though the ITI Centre is located in a less-advanced society, it has highlighted the truth

that ITIs better offer the basic technological and engineering services to the nation. Maldih Junior High

School under Balarampur Block requested the Balarampur Govt. ITI Principal to make an arrangement for

electric wiring of the Office Room of the said school. Complying with their request the students of Electrical

trade of Balarampur Govt. ITI have successfully accomplished the job to the entire satisfaction of the school

authority.
