EDUCATIONAL GOAL OF THE SISTERS OF ST. ANNE, TIRUCHIRAPALLI

The Sisters of the Congregation of St. Anne of Tiruchirapalli, in their educational

apostolate, strive for human liberation at all levels among those entrusted to their case. Called

to serve in simplicity among the poor, the Sisters in all their educational institutions pay

special attention to the downtrodden and the marginalized, and help them to grow in

knowledge and awareness.

It is our earnest endeavour to inculcate among our students and teachers a spirit of love for

God and neighbour. Christian values are their strength to achieve this.

We also the signs of the times and educate our students in social awareness, brotherhood,

justice and freedom of the individual, so will enshrined in the constitutions of our country.

With the help of awareness movements and other such innovative exercises, we advocate

in them a sense of fellowship and Christian charity and at the same time train them to be the

leaders of a better future.

THE COLLEGE PROFILE

Reading the signs of the times, the congregation of the sisters of St. Anne, Tiruchirapalli

has vowed to place the thrust on opting for the poor. It has been working for the cause of

education and the upliftment of the poor and down trodden. After a thorough study,

reflection, prayer and discernment, we have proposed to extend our mission through job

oriented training programme, in the name and style of St. Anne’s College of Engineering and

Technology, chiefly focusing on the option for the poor and established the same in the

academic year 2009- 2010.

Our aim is to give hope and dignity through education by which character is formed,

strength of mind is increased, intellect is expanded and also by which one can stand on one’s

feet. We train the youth to see the good in every human being and to take the best out of each

individual, to inculcate a sense of values in every student and to help every person to

promote justice, peace and love in society.

St. Anne’s College of Engineering and Technology is approved by AICTE, New Delhi

and affiliated to Anna University, Tiruchirapalli. It is situated at Anguchettypalayam, near

Panruti. The surrounding will provide opportunities for our students both for training and

employment. Our students can reap the benefits from this Institute with proper coordination.

Annai Velankanni polytechnic College which is situated at Anguchettypalayam has also got a

rapid growth in the last six years under the management of the sisters of St. Anne,

Tiruchirapalli.

Sun suggests energy as well as the continual enlightenment and opportunity that

come as a result of exploration, problem solving and discovery through application

of engineering disciplines. The shaking hands suggest that everyone have the choice

to inspire others to find their voice. Inspire means to breathe life into another. As we

recognize, respect and create ways for others to give voice to all four parts of their

nature--physically, mentally, emotionally/socially, spiritually-latent human genius,

creativity, passion, talent and motivation are unleashed.

To build a Holistic Society which is based on cultural values and justice through our institution for

coming out of the self centered life to other centered lives.

MISSION

To provide quality engineering education for the rural students in and around the nation and to

produce world class engineers.

To stimulate the students skill for improving their soft skills and technical knowledge according to

the trends and needs of the industries.

To provide healthy education through which character is formed, strength of mind is increased,

intellect is expanded and through which one can stand on one’s feet.

To provide good infrastructure, consistent technical and professional enrichment of staff by

creating continuous improvement in teaching process for the betterment of the students who come

from the illiterate , marginalized and downtrodden families.

COLLEGE RULES

I . COLLEGE RULES AND GUIDELINES

1. Students are strictly advised to follow the rules and regulations of the college

2. Students who have a minimum of 85% attendance in every subject are eligible to appear for

Semester Examinations.

3. Attendance will be marked at the beginning of every period. A student who is not in the

class when the attendance is taken shall be marked absent.

4. Students absent for any one period in a session (excepting the first of the FN session) will be

marked absent for that session (Forenoon or Afternoon).

5. If a student wants to avail leave he/ she should submit the leave form in the prescribed

format and get it approved by faculty advisor, HOD and the Principal well in advance.

6. In case of absence due to unforeseen circumstances and illness, leave letters can be

submitted through messengers or on the day of the student’s return to the college.

Otherwise leave will not be sanctioned.

7. The name of the student who is absent for 3 days continuously without prior approval of

leave will be removed from the nominal roll.

8. Only students who earn 90% of attendance shall be eligible for scholarships.

9. At the stroke of the first bell, students should occupy their seats in the class and get ready

for their lectures.

10. Students entering the college after the assembly will present themselves to the Class

Advisor / HOD and then sign in the late Register.

11. Disciplinary action will be taken for the students who are coming late for more than two

times. A disciplinary committee will inspect the students everyday regarding late

attendance , dress code etc.

12. No student shall be allowed to leave the class room, without the permission of the staff.

Students should avoid walking on the corridors and college campus during working hours.

13. Students are expected to walk silently and in an orderly manner while moving from one

room to another.
