Academic questions -1

For each 6 ects subject at Comillas, students should normally expect to spend between 140-160 hours engaged in the specified learning and assessment activities (such as attending lectures, assigned readings, tutorial assistance, individual or group research/study, forum activity, workplace learning, assignments or examinations). The student workload for some subjects may vary from these norms as a result of approved course design.

Students will be assessed on the basis of completed assignments, examinations, or other methods as outlined in specific subject guidelines.

An exchange student should have between 24 and 30 ECTS depending on THE HOME UNIVERSITY REQUIREMENTS!

Cuestiones académicas-1

Para una asignatura de 6 ects, se espera de un estudiante que dedique a esta entre 140-160 horas (dentro de esta dedicación se encuentran las clases, lecturas, tutorías y trabajos en grupo e individuales y exámenes). La carga de trabajo para cada asignatura puede ser diferente pero los requisitos de cada uno se pueden ver en los programas de cada asignatura.

A los alumnos se les evaluará en base al trabajo de clase, a los trabajos dirigidos y a los exámenes, o en base a cualquier otro método que se especifique en el programa.

Un alumno de intercambio deberá hacer entre 24 y 30 ects SEGÚN LOS REQUISITOS DE SU UNIVERSIDAD

Grading scale/ Calificaciones:

In Spain, the marks go from 1 to 10, 10 being the maximum mark. The majority of Spanish students are between a 6 and an 8.

CLASS ATTENDANCE IS COMPULSORY. If you don´t go to class and don´t give good reason for not going to the teacher, they will not let you take the exam and you could receive a mark called NOT ATTENDED.

En España las calificaciones van de 1 a 10. Siendo 10 el máximo. La mayoría de los alumnos españoles se encuentran entre el 6 y el 8.

LA ASISTENCIA A CLASE ES OBLIGATORIA, si no asistes a las clases y no justificas tu ausencia el profesor podrá negarse a examinarte o podrá poner en tu expediente NO PRESENTADO.

Class selection

All students can pick anual and semestral classes..

If you are a student coming only for a semester, you can take annual classes, but you will only receive half of the total year credits available.

If you are an annual student and you choose an annual course, you can not stop studying it in the second semester, you must complete the course.

Students who come from English speaking Universities will have preference when it comes to classes taught in English.

Elección de asignaturas

Todos los alumnos pueden elegir asignaturas anuales o cuatrimestrales.

Si eres alumno que viene por un cuatrimestre te podrás matricular en asignaturas anuales, pero solamente recibirás la mitad de los créditos de la asignatura anual.

Si eres un alumno anual y te matriculas en una asignatura anual tendrás esta asignatura durante todo el curso, no te la podrás quitar en el segundo cuatrimestre.

Las asignaturas en inglés tienen preferencia los alumnos que vienen de Universidades Angloparlantes.

Academic Calendar

First semester classes start on September 2st and they finish on the 22nd December (including the exam period).

The exam period is from the 7th December until the 22nd December.

IT IS THE STUDENTS RESPONSIBILITY TO STAY FOR THE WHOLE DURATION OF THEIR EXCHAGE. WE WILL NOT CHANGE THE DATES OF EXAMS UNLESS THE STUDENT HAS TWO ON THE SAME DAY AND AT THE SAME TIME.

Calendario Académico

Las clases del primer semestre comienzan el 2 de septiembre y terminan incluido exámenes el día 22 de diciembre.

Los exámenes son desde el día 7 de diciembre al día 22 de diciembre ambos inclusive.

ES OBLIGACIÓN DEL ALUMNO PERMANECER DURANTE TODO EL PERIODO DEL INTERCAMBIO , NO SE CAMBIARÁN FECHAS DE EXÁMENES EXCEPTO EN EL CASO DE QUE SEAN EL MISMO DÍA A LA MISMA HORA.

Confirming course selection

During the first two weeks of classes, students have the opportunity to attend classes they wish to take before making a definitive choice. Students can drop and pick-up classes according to what suits them best. You will be able to make changes up until the 15th September.

After definitively confirming the classes you which to take, we will not allow changes of any kind.

You will have to go to see Patricia with your timetable, the selection of courses done in the application and don’t forget to upload your medical insurance

Selección de cursos definitiva

Durante las dos primeras semanas de clase el alumno tiene la oportunidad de asistir a todas las clases que quiera para hacer la selección definitiva de asignaturas que mejor se adapte a sus necesidades. Podrá hacer cambios hasta el día 15 de septiembre.

Después de esta fecha se cerrará el periodo para añadir o quitar asignaturas y se deberá entregar la matrícula definitiva no se admiten cambios de ningún tipo.

Tendrás que ir a ver a Patricia con tu horario, la selección de cursos hecha en la aplicación y no olvides de subir tu seguro médico.

All students can study another foreign language (German, French or Italian). The classes take place in the afternoon – consult the time in the third year foreign language page and there will be various levels. These classes are worth 6 ECTS credits. During the first week we will assess the student´s level so that they will take the correct class for their language level .

Todos los alumnos podrán estudiar otro idioma extranjero (Alemán , Francés o Italiano). Las clases son en horario de tarde – ver horario Terceras lenguas extranjeras y hay varios niveles. Esta asignatura tiene un valor de 6 ects. Durante la primera semana se verá el nivel del alumno por eso te recomendamos que asistas a la primera clase del nivel que tu en un principio consideres que tienes.
