PLC Projects

Final year academic projects are the ones which exhibits students real understanding of their core branch of study. It helps the students to explore their skills based on the subjects they studied in his respective engineering. Projects forms the major part of marks during final year and hence its necessary to develop an innovative eye catching projects for best results. We have listed various projects ideas based on PLC. Students can also search for some major projects from our website.

Some of our projects using PLCs are as below:

Automatic pick and place Automatic bottle filling system PLC based elevator control PLC based plate cutting machine

Automatic Bottle filling system

The machine that used to prepare automatic filling water into the bottle is fully controlled by the PLC(which acts as the heart of the system). Sensor usually plays its vital part as an input signal transmitter for the PLC in this system. During this project sensor has been used to detect the bottle position that move along the conveyor belt at the low speed while the machine operates. The input signal that has been sent from the sensor to the PLC has being made as a reference. Signal in order to determine the output signal that exactly a same with the PLC programming languagebased on the user requirement. Beside that, the electronics and electric devices that usually been controlled by the PLC are like a motor, pump, sensor, conveyor belt, buzzer and the others devices.

PLC based elevator control

For the people residing in urban cities, elevators have become an integral part of their daily life. Simply stated, an elevator is a hoisting or lowering mechanism, designed to carry passengers or freight, and is equipped with a car and platform that typically moves in fixed guides and serves two or more landings. Hydraulic and roped elevators are the two types of elevators in use today. The main design considerations for choosing either electric traction drive or hydraulic for a particular project are the number of floors, the height of the building, the number of people to be transported, desired passenger waiting times and frequency of use. This project is to design and construct an elevator using a programmable logic controller. Hall Effect sensor is used to know the elevator position. Hydraulic and roped elevators are the two types of elevators in use today. Elevators are prevalent throughout many multi-level structures.

PLC based Automatic Bottle Filling and Capping System

This project aims at filling and capping bottles simultaneously. The filling and capping operation takes place in a synchronized manner. It also includes a user-defined volume selection menu through which the user can input the desired volume to be filled in the bottles. The entire system is more flexible and time saving. The filling and capping operations are controlled using a Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC’S). This is because PLC’s are very flexible, cost effective, space efficient and reduces complexity.

This project intends to measure the traffic density by counting the number of vehicles in each lane and then allot different time slots to different lanes according to the number of

vehicles. Its also difficult for a traffic police to monitor the whole scenario round the clock. So, we use an automated system which counts the number of vehicles in each lane, allots different time slots to different lanes according to the number of vehicles present in

each lane. For automation, we have decided to use a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC). Due to its ruggedness and ease of programming and re programming, PLC is the

most suitable controller for the above purpose.

PLC based plate cutting machine

In this modern era where everything is becoming automated, the business sector especially the manufacturing companies have gained so many benefits from using machines and technology to increase their profits and productivity rate. This paper presents Implementation of PLC logic for CNC flame cutting machine. And it involves the implementation of the hardware and software for CNC system i.e. development of PLC logic for CNC flame cutting machine and designing of circuit for interfacing of CNC System to the Flame cutting Machine. CNC Flame cutting Machines are automated that make Industrial components with less human interaction. Computer is used for processing of data and controlling various activities of the machine. PLC interfaces the Machine and the System. A great level of accuracy and speedier cycle times can be gained with the use of a CNC machine. Since this automation projects has a high repeatability, it can increase the consistency and yield.
