TRANSCRIPT

Change is upon us, and it’s happening faster than we imagined. Advances in technology

are putting pressure on the pace at which we do our work while posing security threats.

Regulatory, business and economic shifts are occurring more quickly. And that’s just a

start.

As CPAs, we share the responsibility of preserving our profession’s key role as the trusted

advisors. Accel Leadership Forum Coach Dan Griffiths, CPA, CGMA, will take you beyond

adapting to the changes and teach you how to capitalize on the profession’s shifts – a

tremendous opportunity.

You’ll also get tips on improving your performance during busy season; plenty of

networking; and the opportunity meet Deborah Curry, the FICPA’s President/CEO, our

Governmental Affairs team, state senators, state representatives and the CPAs serving in

the legislature!

Join the conversation and share your takeaways! Follow the FICPA on Twitter @ficpa and use #ficpaACCEL to tweet about this event.

8 - 9:40 a.m. Positioning Yourself for the Future of the Profession (2 BE)In 2011, our profession engaged in a visioning project to imagine what the profession might look like in 15 years. Nearly five years later, we’re beginning to see some of that vision come to life. Changes are coming to the CPA profession more rapidly than most of us could have imagined when we started our careers.

We’ll discuss some of the big changes and what young CPAs can do to position themselves to capitalize. In an environment changing this rapidly, the ability to learn quickly is a key differentiator and the opportunities are tremendous for those willing to prepare themselves for what lies ahead. Specifically, we’ll delve into the emerging research around learning and performance and how you can directly apply it to your individual development.

9:40 - 10 a.m. Break

Agenda

10 - 11:40 a.m. Leveraging Technology in CPA Innovation (2 BE)Technology is the underlying driver for the accelerating pace of change that we see in the world around us. Things may be changing quickly, but they are doing so in some important and predictable ways. Understand and apply this knowledge, and you’re well on your way to capitalizing on the biggest trends impacting our profession today.

In this session, we’ll cover some of the trends, but also discuss ways that CPAs are leveraging their knowledge of those trends to transform their practices and their careers. You’ll leave with specific steps you can take to be more effective in your use of things like social media, CRM, data analytics and cloud-based applications.

11:40 a.m. - 12:40 p.m. Networking Lunch

12:40 - 2 p.m. Managing Multiple Generations in the Workplace (2 BE) This is really the first time in history where we have had four generations side-by-side in the workplace. It brings with it a certain set of challenges but also tremendous opportunity for those that can see it.

You’ll learn practical steps you can take to improve cross-generational collaboration on your team. Most importantly, you’ll come away with tools to help you in working with different leadership styles, particularly ones that may be different from your own.

2 - 2:20 p.m. Break

2:20 - 4 p.m. How to Handle Stress During Busy Season (2 BE) We’ve all been there. It’s the middle of March. You’ve been at the office for the past 14 hours, and you haven’t made nearly enough progress on your task list for the day. Deadlines are looming, and your brain is going soft. What do you do?

In this session, we’ll discuss practical tips for improving your performance during busy season. We’ll look at what the latest brain science and other research has to teach us about performing at our best, even and especially when the world seems to be crashing down all around us.
