IBM Spectrum Computing: Accelerate cost efficient

Big Data Analytics & Hybrid Cloud solutions with

Software Defined Infrastructure

An event for European Consultants and System Integrators

Accelerate results and lower costs with a scalable, agile and efficient IT environment

Organizations in different industries are leveraging IBM Software Defined Infrastructure solutions for big data, analytics, high-

performance computing (HPC) and cloud to improve business results in a highly competitive market.

IBM Software Defined Infrastructure enables organizations to deliver IT services in the most efficient way possible, optimizing resource utilization to accelerate time to results and reduce costs. It is the foundation for a fully integrated software defined environment, optimizing compute, storage and networking infrastructure so organizations can quickly adapt to changing business requirements.

Event Objective

Enable you as an IBM Partner from the Computer Services Industry on IBM's Software Defined Infrastructure vision and strategy by highlighting the Spectrum Compute and Spectrum Storage offerings in the context of Workloads, Use Cases and Reference Architectures. As clients implement new generation Cloud, and Big Data and Analytics workloads, SDI can provide significant benefits in optimizing IT investments by transforming static infrastructure into a dynamic resource that is agile and data-aware. Application workloads can then be serviced automatically by the most appropriate resource running locally, in the cloud, or as part of a hybrid cloud environment.

At the end of the Workshop, the participants will be enabled with SDI knowledge to differentiate their own managed services, and/or help you/your Customers better optimize their infrastructure with software defined technologies

During this one-and-a-half day event, our Presenter team will:

Present and position IBM's Software Defined Infrastructure Vision and Strategy,

Illustrate with cross industry uses cases:

o The reference architecture of IBM Spectrum Conductor for Apache Spark, an enterprise-grade, multi-tenant solution for Apache Spark, allowing organizations to deploy Spark efficiently and effectively.

o Solutions for Design & Simulation.

o And coping with output from Big Data Projects: IBM Spectrum Scale and ESS.

Present how implementing a Software Defined Infrastructure can Dramatically Reduce Cost, Risk and Time to Market, (Financial services use cases).

Present the next-generation Infrastructure for Big Data Omics with IBM Software Defined Solutions.

Share examples of Multi-Tenant, Enterprise Data Centres Built on Software Defined Infrastructure.

Present how SDI has helped optimise IT in Telco

And finally share the assets available to you, what are the next steps and how to engage IBM on your SDI project.

Audience: This workshop is especially designed for IT Architects & IT Consultants from the Computer Services Industry

interested in understanding the IBM SD Offerings.

Travel and Accommodation paid for by IBM for all European IMTs excepting Central Eastern Europe.

We look forward meeting you in Montpellier!

Presentation Abstracts

IBM's Software Defined Infrastructure Vision and Strategy Nick Werstuick, Director, Storage and SDI Strategy

Learn about the IBM Software Defined Infrastructure Vision and Strategy and how the SDI capabilities can be leveraged and built into your key infrastructure and application practice areas. IBM SDI provides a set of key capabilities to support next generation applications and workloads organizations require for their Systems of Engagement and Insights, providing the key building blocks for a dynamic, multi-tenant, shared service infrastructure.

IBM Spectrum Conductor for Spark, Cross Use Case & Reference Architecture Scott Campbell, Senior Offering Manager

Apache Spark is quickly becoming the ‘must use’ technology for next generation Analytics environments. Enabling interactive, batch and real time streaming workloads on a common analytics environment poses new challenges for clients as they quickly move to deploy Spark based applications. In this session learn about the new capabilities available for clients to build and deploy a multitenant, dynamic shared service Spark environment and how this capability can be leveraged within an application or infrastructure services practice.

Solutions for Design & Simulation, Cross Use Cases and Reference Architecture Bill McMillan - WW Product Portfolio Manager, IBM Spectrum LSF Family & MPI

The use of design, simulation and modelling continues to grow as enterprise organizations use these techniques to reduce the cycle time in delivering new products and offerings to market. In this session learn about the new capabilities available for clients to build and deploy a dynamic Design and Simulation environment focused on increasing the productivity of the end users of the infrastructure (Designers/Engineers) to drive maximum business value to an enterprise.

Coping with output from Big Data Projects - IBM Spectrum Scale and ESS Technology for File and Object Data Dave McDonnell, WW Manager, Business Development SIs and ISVs

In this session you will learn how IBM Spectrum Scale and ESS help you effectively manage BIG Data and accelerate your analytics applications. You will learn how to build Data Oceans and using policies be able to take advantage of the different tiers of storage such as Flash, disk and tape plus move your data to Cloud resources and run your analytics applications in the Cloud.

Financial Services: Implementing a Software Defined Infrastructure to Dramatically Reduced Cost, Risk and Time to Market Scott Campbell, Senior Offering Manager

At this session: 1) Learn how SDI solutions can help applications which are having performance issues, enabling them to run much faster and become more resilient either on-premises or deployed in the cloud. 2) Gain insight on big data solutions, including the use of open-source technologies such as Spark. 3) Gain an understanding of various financial use cases such as those associated with developing predictive customer insights, risk processing and counter fraud which can be supported using SDI technology. 4) Lastly, learn how all of our solutions can be brought together to support the data centre of the future, dramatically driving up compute resource efficiency." Focus will be on HOW we can apply these offerings in a specific industry.

Elective Session: Scale, Speed, Smarts - Building Next-generation Infrastructure for Big Data Omics with IBM Software Defined Solutions and Reference Architecture (HealthCare and Life Sciences) Frank Lee - Global Sales Leader for HC/LS, Software Defined & Flash Solution
