Hello, my name is Najat and I am going to present my evaluation summary on the accessibility and usability of mobile and web applications.1National Rail Enquiries Accessibility issuesUsability issuesThe Train LineAccessibilityUsabilityRequired Assistive TechnologyScreen ReadersZoom and Contrast Font type options.

Mobile Applications

Mobile Applications The accessibility evaluation was based on WCAG 2 guidelines while the usability was based on 10 heuristics. National Rail Enquiries satisfied most of the accessibility check with minor accessible issues with drop down lists and reading sequence. The usability as well was intermediate since it had many links and buttons without proper grouping. This application worked better in the android version than the iOS one.The Train Line application had also passed most of the WCAG 2 checklists except the fact that it provided minimum description for its controls and lacked system feedback notifications. The usability was good overall on the iOS version except that drop down lists were hard to use with Voice Over gestures. The android version failed most of the accessibility and usability checks. To enhance the accessibility experience, users can take advantage of built-in features in mobile phones like Screen Readers (Voice Over and Talk Back), Zoom, contrast and font type options.2Survey MonkeyAccessibility (73%)Usability (80%)Web Survey CreatorAccessibility (60%)Usability (60%)Required Assistive TechnologyATbarNVDA Screen ReaderWeb 2.0 Applications

Two web 2.0 applications were evaluated against web2access accessibility check and top ten guidelines for homepage usability check. Survey monkey did well in general in terms of both accessibility and usability. It scored 73% in accessibility check failing mainly in links targets and color contrast. However it satisfied about 80% of usability check where 20% were issues of using popup windows for critical features.Web Survey Creator had a lower accessibility and usability results where it scored 60% in both. Its main drawbacks were the lack of controls description and some critical features were accessible with mouse only.AT bar and NVDA Screen Reader are examples of assistive technologies that can be used to make those web applications more accessible. 3Accessibility Operating Systems Browsers Compatibility:WindowsInternet ExplorerGoogle ChromeFirefox MacSafariThis Presentation Info
