Project Plan for the Toowong to Indooroopilly commuter bikeway – Perrin Park upgrade The plan is north facing and shows Perrin Park at Toowong centrally positioned on the plan. This park is bordered by Josling Street in the north, Burns Road to the west, Alpha Street and Heroes Avenue to the south and the Toowong Bowls Club on Gailey Road in the east. The project will install a new three-metre-wide, 300-metre-long shared pathway extending north-south through Perrin Park from the existing path at Heroes Avenue connecting to the existing path around the sports oval then through to the extisting path at Josling Street, Toowong. The works will also include upgrading the existing bridge across Toowong Creek to a wider and safer structure. Provision has been made with the design of the new pathway to allow for future installation of lighting along the alignment. The project will include new linemarkings and signage to improve safety for all pathway users. To provide sufficient space for the new pathway, seven trees will be removed from Perrin Park. Marine plants running alongside the existing bridge will also be removed to allow for the wider bridge to be constructed. The plan indicates an existing bat colony to the north of the Toowong Bowls Club. This is located outside of the project area however care will be taken to ensure the area is protected with minimal impacts during construction. The project is part of the Toowong to Indooroopilly commuter bikeway upgrade and will improve safety and accessibility for pedestrians and cyclists accessing Perrin Park. The Toowong to Indooroopilly commuter bikeway upgrade aims to improve safety, connectivity and visibility for cyclists and pedestrians travelling between Toowong and Indooroopilly. The shared pathway is shaded yellow on the plan with the existing pathways shown in blue. The existing bridge and existing bat colony are marked with a red circle.
