Accounting is an information system that identifies, measures, records and communicates relevant, reliable, consistent information about an organization’s economic activities.

Its objective is to help people make better decisions. It also helps people better assess opportunities, products, investments, and social and community responsibilities.

In addition, to reporting on the performance of a business, what the business owns, and what it owes, accounting opens our eyes to new and exciting possibilities.

Accounting can provide you with important and interesting learning experiences. You will acquire knowledge and skills that will help you in both business and everyday life. For example, you can use accounting knowledge to make better investment decisions or to help you get a loan for a house.

Recordkeeping, or bookkeeping, is the recording of financial transactions and events, either manually or electronically, for the purpose of creating reliable bank of data. Accounting involves the recordkeeping process but is much more.

Auditing is the examination and testing of the books, records and procedures of a business in order to be able to express an opinion about its financial statements.
