PROFIL COMPOSITES

Hybrid composite resins have higher compressive strength compared to nanofill composites. High filler content and elasticity modulus mean that post-op strain and cracks do not easily occur in these restorations.

Larger size and higher number of filler particles in hybrid composite resins (compared to microfilled composites) improve the mechanism of crack pinning and crack deflection and result in higher fracture toughness.

In addition to the larger size of filler particles in Profil composite resin, the presence of zirconium fillers play a role in its increased strength compared to others (see table comparison done by Dental Advisor in USA).

The presence of special monomer combination present in Profil results in reduced cyclization and increased cross linking in the polymer and confers subsequent improved mechanical properties and durability/strength in comparison to others.
