8th ACFI Board Ofce Bearers Meeting

The 8th ACFI Board Office Bearers Meeting was held on 21st March' 2017 in the Meeting Room, 2nd Floor, New Udaan Bhawan, Opposite T-3, IGI Airport, New Delhi – 110037 under the Chairmanship of Mr Tushar Jani President ACFI. The members discussed various important issues such as launch of ACFI Delhi Chapter, Structuring of ACFI Ahmedabad Chapter and restructuring the membership fee for both ACFI Members and the members of the ACFI Chapters. It was decided to take up the recommendations on these issues in the next ACFI Board for approval. Apart from Mr. Tushar Jani, President - ACFI other members who were present in the meeting were namely; Mr. Cyrus Katgara, Vice President – ACFI, Mr. Yashpal Sharma, Hon. Secretary - ACFI, Mr. KS Kunwar, Director General - ACFI, Mr. DR Juyal, Director - ACFI and Mr. Brijesh Kumar Sharma, Office Assistant - ACFI.

Launching of ACFI Delhi Chapter

Further to the decision taken in the 43rd ACFI Governing Board meeting held on 14th Dec'2016, the launching event of ACFI Delhi Chapter was held on 21.03.2017 at DIAL Auditorium, Ground Floor, New Udaan Bhawan, Opposite Terminal -3, IGI Airport, New Delhi, under the Chairmanship of Mr. Tushar K. Jani, President, ACFI in the presence of ACFI Board Members and members of ACFI Delhi region.

A detailed presentation was given by Mr. Yashpal Sharma, Hon. Secretary - ACFI on the activities & journey of ACFI to the members. Mr. Cyrus Katgara, Vice President - ACFI shared the summary of ACFI achievements during last four years of its existence to the members present. Mr K S Kunwar shared about the structure of ACFI Chapters and its duties & responsibilities.

Mr. Tushar Jani the President in his speech, complimented the ACFI Board members for opening the 4th ACFI regional chapters at Delhi after establishing the other three Chapters at Bangalore, Chennai and Ahmedabad in the past. The President ACFI said that with the launch of Delhi Chapter ACFI will gain its presence in the local trade facilitation meetings & taking the opportunity to serve the cargo industry of Delhi region diligently.

Mr. Yashpal Sharma informed the members that as per laid down procedure for election of the office bearers of the chapter i.e. Chairman/ Vice Chairman and other members will be elected by the members of the Chapter. However, first time ACFI Board in consultation with the members may nominate them to start the Chapter's activities. Accordingly Mr Yashpal Sharma announced the names of the first list of office bearers of ACFI Delhi Chapter nominated by ACFI Board as under;-

Mr. Dinkar Singh the newly elected Chairman of ACFI Delhi Chapter thanked ACFI

Governing Board and the members from all the air cargo trade fraternity of Delhi for

reposing confidence and belief in him & his team by putting this important responsibility. He

assured ACFI Board members, about his team's full commitment to discharge this new

responsibility assigned. He also requested the support and cooperation of all the members of

air cargo logistics trade of Delhi to achieve their aspirations and taking air cargo logistics

industry of Delhi to new growth.

Open House – Question Answer Session

During open house discussion Mr. Naresh Gehaney Vice President – Airfreight, M/S. Haiko

Logistics India Pvt. Ltd desired to know about the commencement of the implementation of

paperless transaction particularly dispensation of Delivery Order hard copies submission to

Custodian/ CTO at the time of issuing Import Cargo Gate Passes. In this regard Mr. Naresh

Gehaney mentioned about the CBEC Order of Oct'2015 on dispensation of DO hard copies

when secured online Dos are transmitted by airline/ consol agent to Custodians.

It was explained by DIAL representative that the action is in hand & having continuous

dialogue with airline community/ Bar India Cargo and expected to be implemented by Sep'

2017. However the representatives of both the CTOs i.e. Celebi Delhi Cargo Terminal

Management India Pvt. Ltd. & Delhi Cargo Service Center Pvt. Ltd. informed that some

airline like Lufthansa have already dispensed issuance of manual DO and others will follow

soon.

Mr. Ramesh Mamidala, Hon. Treasurer – ACFI, proposed a vote of thanks to all the members

present from the entire air cargo logistics supply chain industry for sparing their valuable

time to attend this historic meeting. He congratulated Mr. Dinkar Singh and Mr. Rohit

Sehgal on their being elected as Chairman & Vice Chairman of Delhi Chapter of ACFI and

his other team members and conveyed best wishes for their successful tenure on behalf of

ACFI Board. He also assured all the support of ACFI Secretariat to ACFI Delhi Chapter for

achieving their new endeavors. He also thanked Mr. Pradeep Panicker for the continuous

support of DIAL to ACFI Secretariat. Mr. Ramesh Mamidala also thanked ACFI Secretariat

for their excellent support and all the ACFI Board members for their valuable presence and

contribution in launching ACFI Delhi Chapter.

1st ACFI Special General Meeting (SGM)

The 1st Special General Meeting (SGM) of the Members of Air Cargo Forum India (ACFI) was held on 21.03.2017 at DIAL Auditorium, Ground Floor, New Udaan Bhawan, Opposite Terminal – 3, I.G.I. Airport, New Delhi – 110037, India. Under the Chairmanship of Mr. Tushar K. Jani, President ACFI.

Mr. Tushar K Jani, President ACFI welcomed all the members present and thanked them for attending the Special General Meeting (SGM) called to discuss specific agenda points already circulated among members before.

Mr. Yashpal Sharma, Hon. Secretary, ACFI welcomed and thanked all the members present in the Special General Meeting of ACFI. He informed the members that on the request of members to reduce the ACFI annual membership fee, the issue was discussed in the 44th ACFI Board Meeting held on 15th February, 2017 and the Board approved the downward revision of ACFI membership fee as indicated below w.e.f. 1st April, 2017 which is now placed before the SGM for approval.

Mr. KS Kunwar, Director General ACFI was invited by the organizers of ET Global Business Summit for participating in the Strategic Roundtable Discussion on 'Regional Connectivity and affordable airline solutions' held on 28th March 2017 at the ballroom “Nausheen”, Hotel Taj Palace, New Delhi.

Mr. Kunwar informed that the session was moderated by Mr. Amber Dubey, Partner and Head - Aerospace & Defence, KPMG and the other distinguished panel members were as under;

• Mr. Ajay Mehra, Managing Director, South Asia, Air Bus

• Mr. Ashwani Lohani, Chairman & Managing Director, Air India

• Mr. Anil Srivastava, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India

• Mr. Kapil Kaul, CEO and Director, Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation

• Mr. Palash Roy Chowdhury, Managing Director, Pratt & Whitney

• Mr. Rajeev K. Jain, CEO, Mumbai International Airports Limited

Mr. Amber Dubey the moderator in his introductory remarks explained the objective of the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) as per NCAP '2016 is to make air transportation affordable for the masses (rural & unban) and promoting a balanced regional growth. The panelists gave their individual viewpoints mainly on the improvements in interstate connectivity, an overview of the RCS regulations, optimizing business opportunities, improving technological efficiency, interplay of logistics and supply chain.

From the point of view of air cargo logistics supply chain, Mr. Kunwar in his deliberation emphasized upon the following areas;-

• The promotion of regional connectivity Scheme (RCS) will further promote the regional

hub airports for both passengers & cargo.• RCS shall promote the remote or unutilized/ underutilized airports which will work as

spokes for the development of regional or major hub airports.• It will boost the transportation of perishables like floriculture/ horticulture products

mainly in the regions of northern & eastern Himalayan belts.

• With the promotion of RCS the under developed regions of the country mainly the north

and the northeastern regions will get an alternate mode of transportation where they have only one mode i.e. road at present and will help government to bring them in main stream of the country.

While the members appreciated the government's initiative in developing RCS under mandates of National Civil Aviation Policy 2016 but at the same time expressed their apprehensions about the affordability of RCS to common people as well as the financial viability of the RCS project.

ACFI INVITED TO ATTEND THE WORKSHOP/SEMINAR

Mr. Tushar K. Jani, President ACFI was invited by DIAL to participate as speaker in the 2nd Pharma Aerologic 2017 held on 7th Mar'2017 at Auditorium New Udaan Bhawan, Opposite T3, IGI Airport. Mr Tushar along with Mr D.R. Juyal Director ACFI Secretariat attended this workshop. This workshop was an Annual Pharmaceuticals Stakeholder meet to discuss the growth opportunities in Pharmaceutical Air Export.

Other prominent speakers who attended and spoke on this workshop were Mr Pradeep Panicker DIAL CCO, Mr Ramesh Mamidala CEO Celebi, Mr Hemant DP, COO GHIAL, Mr Rethina Kumar Group Business Director, IMRB and Mr Sanjiv Edward, Head Cargo, DIAL.

The speakers deliberated upon the current scenario of Indian pharma industry known as one of the sun rise industries of the country and its expected future high growth. Members also deliberated upon the few bottlenecks like limited hours available for the processing/clearance of documents, being faced by the air cargo logistics industry at present and government's policy initiatives for improving ease of doing business in this sector. It was stressed by the members that a lots is yet to be done in the areas of expeditious processing of pharma products on 24x7 basis keeping in mind its continuous growth.
