1.0 Welcome and Introduction.
1.1 Meeting was called to order at 8:30 am. Self introductions were given by all in attendance. Attendance sheets were distributed.
1.2 Please remember to confirm your email address located on the ACI website.
1.3 We have a busy day with a goal to cover chapters 8 and 11.
1.4 A count of the voting member was taken. Initially there were 25, ultimately 26.
1.5 The Chair recognized Bill Phelen for his 50 years of involvement with ACI and Art
McKinney as a Fellow 2.0 Approval of Minutes:
2.1 Motion made and seconded to approve minutes of previous Cincinnati meeting. 3.0 Liaison Reports:
• 117 - Tolerances (Eldon Tipping): Undergoing TAC review, 200 editorial comments.
• 130 - ACI certification (Kevin MacDonald): No update
• 223 - Shrinkage Compensation (John Rohrer): 223 completed in 2010, now back into task groups – getting started.
• 224 - Control of Cracking (???): No report.
• 301 - Specifications for Concrete (Scott Tarr): Started next cycle for 2015 publish date. Sections 10 & 11 balloted. Negatives to be worked on this meeting.
• 329 - Sustainable Design In Concrete (Jay Shilstone): No update
• 330 - Concrete Parking Lots and Site Paving (Tim Cost): Final resolution underway. Progress on industrial pavement.
• 360 - Design of Slabs on Ground (Barry Foreman): Just getting started up again
• 544 – Fiber Reinforced 329 (Mike McPhee): In transition, working on technical notes now.
• 640 – Finisher Certification (Bob Simonelli) No update 4.0 Old Business
• Bill Phelan – Concrete slabs over vapor retarder field testing: Not enough data to make an industry statement. It looks like 0.04% shrinkage on poly is “no problem”. Per Harrison, dominant joints are a big issue and this committee needs to address it. Neuber may have a project that is measureable. McPhee has had recent experience using extended jointing (with steel fibers) at 75 to 100’ with minimal curling.
• Dennis Ahal – Finishing lightweight concrete: Deny provided a summary of finishing problems related to air entrained concrete and cautioned that specifying higher F numbers require enhanced finishing equipment use which may lead to delamination issues.
• Peter Craig – Avoiding moisture related problems: No ongoing research – should be ready within several months
• Pat Harrison – Liquid surface treatment standard: Need to get going ahead with this. Will revitalize it with chair..
