Jay feldman of ncAmp once asked, “ever played monte carlo?”

EPA plays gambling games with our lives and our environment every day. Monte Carlo is a statistical tool used by EPA in performing its risk “assessments” on just the pesticide poison’s active ingredients when setting “ac-ceptable” pesticide residues (active poison ingredient contamination levels) on our food (“tolerances”). It is an attempt to “methodically” deal with a great lack of scientific data and research. Basically, the Agency will create a plot of points on a graph, which shows percent of population on the Y axis and likelihood of exposure on the X axis. Most likely, estimates about food residues (poison contamination) of the just the active poison ingredient, for example, would show a curve sloping downward to the right, showing many people with low exposure and a minority of people with high exposure. For example, EPA may make the assumption that the average American eats 5 - 15 avocados per year, while a few people may eat 50 or more per year. The basic equation for calculating

2024

risk from residue (poison contamination) exposure is HAZARD x EXPOSURE = RISK. The acute hazard of just one active (poison) ingredient may be somewhat known or estimated, and is represented as a numerical figure, but the bulk or rest of the poison formula is (simply) ignored. The Agency must attempt to achieve a numerically quantifiable exposure level of just this active (poison) ingredient and plug it into the equation to calculate “risk.” This is where many unscientific assumptions come into play. A computer chooses 1000 points off the original graph (it will often choose the more common points, thus eliminating the extreme cases), plug these numbers into the risk equation, and run it 1000 times. Then the results are plotted on a second graph. From this graph, the Agency attempts to regulate the amount of contamination of just the poison’s active ingredient in a way that will supposedly “protect” the 99.9th percentile, or 99.9 percent of the people at risk. For a nation of roughly 270 million people, the “small” percentage left (unprotected) by this “risk assessment” is still 270,000 people! This “policy” is a program of justifiable murder. The Agency’s reasons for using this percentile, rather than the 95th or 90th percentile are now being subjected to intense lobbying by those in the poison “industry” seeking to allow an even greater degree of poison contamination or “residue” with a corresponding increase of harm/risk/death.

“Risk Assessment” or Monte Carlo (or Russian routlette) is basically a method of trying to be more “bureaucrati-cally precise and objective” about all of the imprecision and possibly false or inaccurate research and/or health assumptions (of just the active poison ingredient). It is a “mathematical” way of trying to express the uncertainty that is unavoidable until more evaluations and exposure assessments of just the active (poison) ingredient are completed. The underlying problem is that “risk assessment” policy accepts (incorrectly) that certain people will (always) have to be put at risk. http:/www.getipm.com/our-loved-ones/memorium.htm “Risk assessment” also does not account (for all of) the “inerts” and/or for any other multiple, additive and synergistic exposures and/or even considers there may be many safer alternatives to the poison and/or that there are many differences in sex, age or health and/or that there are also chronic/bioaccumulation and exposure problems. “Risk assement” historically has allowed many dangerous poisons like DDT and chlordane to be “legally” put on the market assum-ing the poison’s “innocence” until it was proven guilty (many generations later). “Risk assessment” totally rejects the principles of sound science and risk prevention and the precautionary public health principles. Unfortunately, human suffering and death is the price we pay for “our “ government’s “policy or program.” “Risk Assessment” truly is the “legalized” mass extermination of a “few “ unfortunate hundreds of thousands of unlucky “gamblers.” Obviously, it is impossible to correctly compute actual risk assessment today; it is time for “our” government to stop gambling with our health, lives and environment.

Always remember that faith removes mountains - doubt creates them.

The Kabbalah teaches us that darkness can not prevail in the presence of light. A darkened room must respond even to the lighting of a single candle. Into this mysterious universe we are born, with no apparent set of instructions, no maps or equations, no signs or guideposts, nothing but our equally unfathomable instincts, intuitions and reasoning abilities to tell us where we came from, why we are here and what we are supposed to do....What we do possess, perhaps the key to our survival as a species, is an almost unquenchable need to know. — Rabbi Berg.

The more clearly we can focus our attention on the wonders and realities of the Universe around us, the less taste we shall have for destuction. — Rachel Carson, 1954

Let me end this Acknowledgements, Bibliography and Reference Section with this personal note: A person who takes another’s work and copies it is called a plagarist, but a person who takes and uses many people’s work and copies it is called a researcher. You can trully call me Ishmael, the researcher.

Where it will. There are ten days of rice

In my bag,and by the hearth

A bundle of firewood.Who prattles of illusion

fame and fortune, listening to the night rain

on the roof of my hut,I sit at ease

Hosea 2: 14-18 — Therefore, behold, I will allure her, and bring her into the wilder-ness, and speak comfortably unto her. And I will give her her vineyards from thence, and the valley of Achor for a door of hope: and she shall sing there, as in the days of her youth, and as in the day when she came up out of the land of Egypt. And it shall be at that day, saith the LORD, that thou shalt call me Ishi; and shalt call me no more Baali. For I will take away the names of Baalim out of her mouth, and they shall no more be remembered by their name. And in that day will I make a covenant for them with the beasts of the field and with the fowls of heaven, and with the creeping things of the ground: and I will break the bow and the sword and the battle out of the earth, and will make them to lie down safely. Note: Achor - The valley of Achor is southwest of Jericho and is a place of despair. The name means “turmoil, misforune and trouble.” “Ishi” means “my husband;” ”Baali”means “my Lord.”
