Here is the interview session with John, who can give you superb
advices on the concept:
Interviewer: While reading the book, there are some instances
which describe the relation between the actors and those who are
being enrolled in the job interviews. What actually is it?
John: Yes, the expression of the interviewer is going to make your
mood “up” or “down”, similar to that of an acting audition. Our
brain has been designed such that it would automatically change
the set of predetermined directions, based on the expressions or the
facial features of the people. Once the amateur actor finds that the
person sitting in front of him is completely bored or shows “not-
so-interested” features, the performance would be automatically
affected. Similarly, in an interview everything would completely
“disappear” from your mind, once the expression of the
interviewer changes. A mix of emotions would enter your mind: it
may be anxiety or depression or it might be insecurity.
Interviewer: can the first few seconds determine your position in
the field?
John: To speak the truth, yes it might sometime determine your
destiny. This rush of emotions can create confusion in your mind;
you would forget the interviewer’s name, nothing would come out
of your mind unless you repeat the same things, again and again.
It would be better if proper training is provided to the amateur
group as all these reactions are fast. Practice is one of the things,
which every acting coach would provide to its students and this is
the same reason, for making them bold and confident. The
auditioning panel might be testing the skills of the students and
how they would excel in the future life.
Interviewer: What do the business professionals have to learn
from the acting students, in this hi-tech visual revolution?
John: What an auditioning panel look out for in an acting student
is the way in which the facial muscles changes, when they perform
certain acts and the body behavior, too. This would also help in
interview sessions.
