Activation Process

Customer receives invitation to activate service

Customer logs in to VLSC

Select Online Service to be activated

Select ‘new’ or ‘renewing’ service

Enter contact information

Enter Mail Server / Domain Information

Review Information

Submit Activation

Receive Confirmation Email

Required Information

Volume Licensing agreement (enrollment) number

Domain Name(s)

Public Inbound IP Address(es)

Public Outbound IP Address(es)



Customer receives ‘Invitation to Activate your Online Service for Microsoft Volume Licensing’ email, with the subject, ‘Invitation to Activate your Online Service for Microsoft Volume Licensing’. Click the https://licensing.microsoft.com link.

After logging in, click on ‘Online Services’.



Click on ‘Online Services Agreement List’.



Enter the Agreement Number and click ‘Search’. Your agreement information will be returned below. Click on your agreement number to continue.


On the Online Services Summary page, you can see your services that are ‘Available for Activation’. Click on the service to be activated (Forefront Online Security for Exchange).



Select the ‘No’ radio button since this is a new activation. Click ‘Continue Activation’. *Note – the ‘Continue Activation’ button is not visible in the screenshot below. The user will see this button during the activation process.



Enter contact information, completing all required fields. Select ‘English’ as the preferred correspondence language. Click ‘Continue Activation’. *Note – the ‘Continue Activation’ button is not visible in the screenshot below. The user will see this button during the activation process.



Select appropriate ‘Mail Server’ from drop down. Populate ‘Domain Name’ and ‘Public Inbound IP’ / ‘Public Outbound IP’. Select ‘Continue Activation’.



Review Screen. Select ‘Activate Service’. *Note – selecting ‘Activate Service’ does not automatically activate the Online Service. If Microsoft cannot validate the request, we will contact you within two business days. SLA information is documented in the confirmation email sent after selecting ‘Activate Service’ as well as page 13 of this guide.



The activation request has been submitted. *Note - after your request is validated, it will be forwarded to our Client Services team for activation and you will be contacted by a Client Services Representative within 5 business days (7 businessdays total). If Microsoft cannot validate the request, you will be contacted within 2 business days.
