Here are some ways you can make this Easter a fun, engaging and meaningful experience as we gather online to remember and celebrate the life, death and resurrection of our Savior, Jesus Christ. “Stained Glass” Cross Celebrate the meaning of the cross with your neighbors by creating window art! Directions: 1. Mix 1 part liquid dish soap with 1 part cornstarch (half and half). Stir. Divide mixture into separate containers. Add 1-2 drops food coloring into each. Stir. 2. Use painter’s tape to create a cross pattern on the window. 3. Lay a drop cloth or newspapers under the window. Remember to wear old clothes too! 4. Use paint brushes and the “paint” (made in step 1) to create your window art. Allow to dry. 5. After the window has dried, remove tape to see your beautiful stained glass window! 6. To remove paint, spray with warm water and scrape with a plastic scraper or card. Tip: Want less mess? You can use window markers to create your window art instead. Easter Story Scavenger HuntThis is a fun way to experience the Easter story by hiding objects around your yard or home and learning Bible verses too!

Items to hide: 1. Something black: represents sin (Romans 6:23)2. Bread: represents Jesus breaking bread and sharing with His disciples at the Last Supper (Luke 22:7-23)3. Soft-edged leaf: represents palm branches laid in the street when Jesus entered Jerusalem (Luke 19:28-44)4. Coins: represent Judas betraying Jesus for 30 coins (Matthew 26:14-16)5. Sharp-edged leaf or thorn: represents Jesus’ crown made of grapevine thorns (John 19:1-7)6. Two sticks: represent the cross (Luke 22:26-34)7. Something red: represents Jesus’ blood, shed for us (Romans 3:24-26)8. Nails: represent the crucifixion (Matthew 27:35)9. Rock: represents the tomb (Luke 23:50-54)10. Flowers, seeds or spices: represents preparing Jesus for burial (Luke 23:55-56)11. Sky (Look up!): represents the empty tomb (Luke 24:1-12)12. Tree bud or flower: represents something new — the old has gone away! (Luke 24:46-48)

Tip: If you have plastic eggs on hand, assign each person a number (from above). Place the items in numbered eggs and tell the Easter story together in the order of the numbers!

Easter Brunch RecipesEaster is a joyous day when we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ and His victory over the powers of sin and death! Enjoy your celebration even more with these Easter brunch recipes, brought to you by your friends on the Wooddale staff!

Sun Dried Tomato and Rosemary Frittata (gluten free)Serves 6 to 8

Ingredients:10 large eggs¼ cup heavy whipping cream (Do not whip.)1 teaspoon salt1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil3 cups Yukon gold potatoes (about 4 medium), rinsed and cut into 1-inch cubes2 tablespoons minced fresh rosemary¼ cup sun-dried tomatoes, minced

Directions:1. Preheat oven to 350 F.2. In a large bowl, combine eggs, whipping cream, salt and pepper. Whisk until fluffy. Set aside.3. In a 10-inch nonstick and oven-safe pan, heat oil over high heat until “shimmery.” (Oil should not smoke.) Turn down heat to medium and add potatoes. Cook, stirring occasionally, for 8 minutes. Add rosemary and sun-dried tomatoes. Stir. Allow to cook for 2 more minutes or until potatoes are soft and golden in color.4. Pour egg mixture (made in step 2) evenly into the potato mixture. Do not stir. The eggs will begin to cook at the bottom and along the edges of the pan. 5. Place the pan in the oven and bake for 12 to 15 minutes or until the egg mixture is firm and does not jiggle when shaken.6. Remove from oven. Slide the frittata out of the pan and onto a serving plate. Cut into 6 to 8 slices. Enjoy warm!

Tip: This frittata is also delicious reheated the next day!

Roasted Asparagus with Lemon and Parmesan (gluten free)Serves 6 to 8

Ingredients:1 to 2 pounds fresh asparagus spears, rinsed and tough ends snapped off3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil½ teaspoon salt½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper½ lemon, zest only¼ cup shredded Parmesan cheese

Directions:1. Preheat oven to 350 F.2. In a 2-quart roasting pan, combine asparagus, oil, salt and pepper. Toss until asparagus is evenly coated with oil.3. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until asparagus is soft but not mushy.4. Remove from oven and sprinkle with lemon zest and cheese. Enjoy warm!

Tip: When selecting asparagus, avoid thick stalks as they tend to be tough andbitter tasting.
