Activities focusing on Employability & Entrepreneurship

(i) Internship

Internship, a student can practice and improve their industry skills

while also learning how to work. Students can gain a better

understanding of how what they are learning in university can help

them with their future.

To meet out the industrial requirements, second year and third

(ii) Industrial Visit

Industrial visit has its own importance in a career of a student

who is pursuing a professional degree. Objectives of industrial visit

are to provide students an insight regarding internal working of

companies. We know, theoretical knowledge is not enough for

making a good professional career.

Our department plan to go for industrial visit twice for

academic year. In this our third year student went for industrial visit

on 11th March 2020 to Shree Venus Energy System Private

Limited, Sriperumbudur, Chennai which is focusing on

manufacturing Technology.

With an aim to go beyond academics, industrial visits provide

students a practical perspective on the world of work. It provides

students with an opportunity to learn practically through

interaction, working methods and employment practices.

Our students learn about practical working environment and

provide students a good opportunity to gain full awareness about

awareness about new technologies.

(iii) Entrepreneurship

Three guest lecturers have been organized for the third year

students on 30th Jan 2020, 12th Mar 2020 and 19th October 2019

with Mr. K.Babu, Retd. Manager, from Rane Engine Valves Ltd,

Chennai on “Work Place Ethics through TQM via ‘5S’ concept and

engineer’s excellence” , Mr. K. Palani, Manager (Safety &

Environment, Ashok Leyland) on “Recent Trend in Automobile

Engineering” and “DFMEA & Tolerance stack-up” with Mr. Prem

Kumar from Renault Nissan Automotive India Pvt. Ltd, Chennai.

Activities focusing on Skill development

Our university collaborative with AU-FRG Institute, Anna

University, Chennai for short term courses in CAD/CAE. This

institute established in February 1996 with assistance from the

Federal Republic of Germany (FRG) is a result of one such joint

venture aimed at promoting CAD/CAM technologies in the Indian

Industrial Sector.

Every academic year, third year students are engaged with this

courses to meet the industrial expectation. It is mandatory for the

students to attend the course and get a course completed certificate

from this institute.

Our Department of Mechanical Engineering organized

3rd International Conference on Technological Advances in

Mechanical Engineering (ICTAME 2019) at Shri Janakiraman

Auditorium, on 19 Sep 2019 with many of participants from
