ANNUAL EVENTS INTRODUCTION

Welcome to the Sport Taranaki Activity Directory. The purpose of this booklet is to provide a resource on information about physical activity opportunities in Taranaki. The recommendation for a healthy life is to be physically active for a minimum of 30 minutes 5 times each week. Start off with what you can achieve and build up to this if necessary. If you would like support, ask your nurse or GP about the Green Prescription. The Green Prescription is written advice from a doctor or primary health care nurse to increase physical activity as part of a patient’s health management plan. The Green Prescription discount card (shown at right) is provided to people to enable them to access a number of discounts on offer. Sport Taranaki have a friendly Green Prescription team that offer support and encouragement for people to become more active. The staff are qualified in exercise prescription, and will support and direct you into the most suitable form of physical activity for your specific needs with consideration for your preferences and lifestyle. Sport Taranaki try to keep this resource current and up to date. Should you find any of the information to be incorrect or wish to advise us on an omission please contact us on (06) 759 0930 ext 714.
