In Corinth

People who need Jesus

• Corinth was a prosperous city • A place where; “none but the tough could

survive.” (Horace)• “Beginning with the fifth century B.C., the verb

"to corinthianize" meant to be sexually immoral” (Zondervan NIV Commentary)

People who need Jesus

• “Corinth was also the centre for the worship of the goddess Aphrodite, whose temple at one time boasted of a thousand sacred prostitutes and crowned the Acrocorinth” (Zondervan NIV Commentary)

People who need Jesus

• “Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And that is what some of you were.” (1 Corinthians 6:9-11)

• Our communities need Jesus Christ

A person to tell of Jesus

A person to stand with Jesus

• “Do not be afraid; keep on speaking, do not be silent. For I am with you, and no one is going to attack and harm you, because I have many people in this city.” (Acts 18:9-10)

A person to stand with Jesus

• Do not be afraid (literally, "Stop being afraid")/I am with you

• Keep on speaking/No one is going to attack and harm you

• Do not be (literally, "become") silent/Because I have many people

• Jesus stands with us

People who trust in Jesus

• “because I have many people in this city” (Acts 18:10)

• He has many in our community• “And that is what some of you were. But you

were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.” (1 Corinthians 6:10)
