THE month of July has really been fi lled with God’s goodness, and we have experienced such in our church. Even in my absence, He gave us 716

visitors and 168 baptisms with many souls who were saved for the whole month. I thank the Lord for faithful church members who prove their love for God. A desire to grow more and love God more is evident when you do things even when nobody notices you.

As God entrusts us another month, we will tackle another series of Sunday School lessons on “Victorious Christian Life Through Our Finances.” I pray that many believers would continue to realize that one of the grea-test testings of our faith is through our fi nances. We must learn to trust the Provider more than the provision. It is only then that our Christian life would be victorious! God wants us to learn that He is still the Jehovah Jireh Who provides every time we follow the principles from His Word. May the lessons and preachings send revival to our life and to our families!

Lastly, I am looking forward to seeing you all again few days from now. It has been a long and delightful trip. God has certainly blessed our trip here in the US, and He allowed us to meet many pastors and friends. I pray that the blessings and ideas I learned while I am here would be a help to our church and its ministries. It is also a joy that our church is a challenge to many brethren here. Truly, our labour for God is not in vain! Let us keep on serving Him until He comes!

Victorious Christian Living (Finances—Budgeting) Matthew 6:22-33

I. The Lord should take the fi rst place in every believer’s budget. A. God’s principle from the very beginning is to bless His people who put their trust in Him.B. God’s precepts from the very beginning if applied by believers today will surely benefi t their fi nancial budget. II. The Lord will take care of the funda-mental needs in every believer’s budget.A. Believers’ faith in God’s provision will take care of their fundamental needs.B. Believers’ faith in God’s person will take care of their fundamental needs. III. The Lord can take over the fruits given by believers out from their budget. A. The key for a victorious fi nancial budget is to prioritize the Giver. B. The key for a victorious fi nancial budget is to present the best gift to the Giver.

VICTORIOUS THROUGH OUR FINANCES

Worship is giving God the best that He has given you. Be careful what you do with the best you have. Whenever you get a blessing from God, give it back to Him as a love gift. Take time to meditate before God and offer the blessing back to Him in a deliberate act of worship. If you hoard a thing for yourself, it will turn into spiritual dry rot, as the manna did when it was hoarded. God will never let you hold a spiritual thing for yourself; it has to be given back to Him that He may make it a blessing to others.

1. TitheTithe off your first fruits. Tithe off your gross not your net.“Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase: So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.” Proverbs 3:9-10

2. Get Financial WisdomMoney is a tool, not an end. It is a help, not a salvation. We should never base final decision upon finances, but rather, on wisdom.“Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding. For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold. She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her. Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honour. Her

ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.” Proverbs 3:13-17“Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.” Proverbs 4:7“I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me. 18 Riches and honour are with me; yea, durable riches and righteousness. My fruit is better than gold, yea, than fine gold; and my revenue than choice silver. I lead in the way of righteousness, in the midst of the paths of judgment: That I may cause those that love me to inherit substance; and I will fill their treasures.” Proverbs 8:17-21“Poverty and shame shall be to him that refuseth instruction: but he that regardeth reproof shall be honoured.” Proverbs 13:18“Be not thou envious against evil men, neither desire to be with them. For their heart studieth destruction, and their lips talk of mischief. Through

wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established: And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches. A wise man is strong; yea, a man of knowledge increaseth strength.” Proverbs 24:1-5

3. Be Diligent and Scrupulous in All Business TransactionsScrupulous means having moral integrity. Keep in mind that God knows what people don’t.“The LORD will not suffer the soul of the righteous to famish: but he casteth away the substance of the wicked. He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich.” Proverbs 10:3-4

4. Work HardIt does not matter how small the task is or how much the job pays God has promised that in all labor there is profit.“In all labour there is profit: but the talk of the lips tendeth only to penury.” Proverbs 14:23

5. Pay Your Bills on TimeAfter your tithe, your bills are your first financial priority. You should never make a purchase when you have bills you should be paying with that money.“Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do it. Say not unto thy neighbour, Go, and come again, and to morrow I will give; when thou hast it by thee. Devise not evil against thy neighbour, seeing he dwelleth securely by thee.” Proverbs 3:27-29

6. Refuse to Go into DebtServant leadership is a great principle but choose who you are willing to serve—Don’t serve credit cards.“The rich ruleth over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender.” Proverbs 22:7

7. Always Spend Less Than You EarnThis is a very basic principle to help you stay out of debt and yet it can be difficult to follow.“There is treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man spendeth it up.” Proverbs 21:20

8. Avoid Making Money Void of God’s BlessingMaking money the wrong way displeases God.“Wealth gotten by vanity shall be diminished: but he that gathereth by labour shall increase.” Proverbs 13:11

9. Avoid Get Rich Quick SchemesGod is against get rich quick schemes, and He always blesses hard work.“He that hasteth to be rich hath an evil eye, and considereth not that poverty shall come upon him.” Proverbs 28:22

10. Never Co-sign a LoanCo-signing is taking full responsibility for some-one else’s bill. The only reason that they need a co- signer is that they have not proven themselves stable financially. “He that is surety for a stranger shall smart for it: and he that hateth suretiship is sure.” Proverbs 11:15“Be not thou one of them that strike hands, or of them that are sureties for debts. If thou hast nothing to pay, why should he take away thy bed from under thee?” Proverbs 22:26-27

11. Do Not Have a Goal to Be RichThe Christian’s goal should be to gain eternal riches rather than to live for the temporary riches of this world.“Labour not to be rich: cease from thine own wisdom. Wilt thou set thine eyes upon that which is not? for riches certainly make themselves wings; they fly away as an eagle toward heaven.” Proverbs 23:4-5

12. Live a Pure and Holy LifeGod promises to honor those who obey Him and His Word.“Whoso causeth the righteous to go astray in an evil way, he shall fall himself into his own pit: but the upright shall have good things in possession.” Proverbs 28:10

13. Live By a BudgetWe all have good intentions but in order to have financial success, we must discipline ourselves to live by a budget.“Be thou diligent to know the state of thy flocks, and look well to thy herds. For riches are not for ever: and doth the crown endure to every generation?” Proverbs 27:23-24

Let’s get his advice on finances.Solomon is the wisest man that has ever lived and his wisdom came

straight from the Lord.

A Christian shows what he is by what he does with what he has. The world asks, How much does he give? Christ asks why does he give? - COPIED

Despite problems in financial capabilityThat sometimes wrap me with self-pity and feeling of futility;

I have God, the Absolute Source of satisfaction toward eternity!He always meets my needs, ascertaining my soul’s liberty …

With His joy of great salvation in acquitting me from sin’s penalty.

Despite deprivations from worldly treasureThat sometimes bring me to necessities’ pressure;

I have God, the Chief Shepherd along bountifulness’ pasture!He always meets my needs, attending to my spirit’s worship gesture…With His presence of steadfast assurance beyond gold-price’s measure.

Despite cravings for material gainThat sometimes tie me around humanistic system’s cane;

I have God, the Ultimate Controller in His everlasting reign!He always meets my needs, replacing my longings so carnally vain…With His pleasures of divine desires to soothe my emptiness’ pain.

Despite temptations of wealthy fameThat sometimes draw me near stardom’s flame;

I have God, the Supreme Owner of everything accorded to His name! He always meets my needs, rewarding my sacrifices devoid of blame and shame…

With His grants of heavenly payments for my service-labor’s claim.

Despite challenges against prosperous conditionThat sometimes bind me to hardships and sufferings’ tension;

I have God, the Almighty Power upholding every situation!He always meets my needs, strengthening my faith into fruitful action…

With His supply of enduring persistence against poverty’s affliction.

Despite losses in earthly richesThat sometimes label me as a failure in success-stories’ searches; I have God, the Sovereign Accountant with His prudent watches!He always meets my needs, filling my lack in giving-stretches… With His sustenance of overflowing resources and gift-pouches.

Despite struggles due to economic deficiencyThat sometimes question me of my commitment’s fervency;

I have God, the Gracious Lover in His all-sufficiency! He always meets my needs, upholding my trust’s persistency…

With His blessings of timely provisions affirming His mercy’s consistency.

Sometimes things just don’t add up in the Christian life, as the poem below illustrates. Who can explain the blessings of God upon those who faithfully tithe? If the statement “ten minus one equals more than ten” does not make sense to you, maybe it is because you have never proven God in the area of tithing. For those who faithfully tithe, it is easily understood. We cannot always explain how God takes care of those who faithfully tithe, but we can always explain that He does.S

TEN MINUS ONE Ten minus one equals more than tenWhen the tenth is given to Him.Ten minus one equals more than ten;To withhold it is a sin.Ten minus one equals more than ten;Do you give it every week?Ten minus one equals more than ten;Tithe if God’s blessing you seek.Ten minus one equals more than ten;Into the storehouse it all should go.Ten minus one equals more than ten;Give it and watch it grow.Ten minus one equals more than ten;Would a man rob God of His due?Ten minus one equals more than ten;The commandment to tithe applies to you.

The purpose of tithing is to secure not the tithe but the tither, not the gift but the giver, not the possession but the possessor, not your money but you for God.

3 TYPES OF GIVERS

FLINT-to get anything out of it you must hammer it, and even then you only get chips and sparks

SPONGE-to get anything out of it you must squeeze it hard, because the more you squeeze a sponge, the more you get

HONEYCOMB-just overfl ows with its own sweetness That is how God gives to us, and it is how we should give in turn.
