CONCLUSION: Current evidences do not support prophylactic
antibiotics as a routine treatment for SAP, but the potentially
benefited sub-population requires further investigations.
Conclusion: The current evidence does not support the use of prophylactic
antibiotics as routine in severe acute pancreatitis, but further studies may
show that a sub-population can benefit from its use.
