LEARNING OBJECTIVES

• Introduction to ADDIE Model

• The 5 Components of ADDIE Model

• Advantages & Disadvantages of the Model

Page 3: ADDIE

INTRODUCTION

• The ADDIE instructional design model is the most common instrument use by the instructional designers.

• It is a model that teaches step-by step the whole process of any training program, it is use in the framework to create new ideas.

• ADDIE was developed at Florida State University in 1975. and was selected by the Armed Services as the primary means for developing training.

THE 5 COMPONENTS

The ADDIE design model has 5 components:• Analysis• Design• Development• Implementation• Evaluation

Page 5: ADDIE

ANALYSIS

• During analysis , the designer identifies the learning problems.

• Considers the learning environments.

• The delivery options

• The timeline for the project

Page 6: ADDIE

DESIGN• Design phase deals with learning objectives:

a. terminal objectives b. enabling objectives

• Apply visual design

• The project is reviewed and revised according to the feedback received

• Determine program duration and its sequence

Page 7: ADDIE

DEVELOPMENT

• Develop training and on the job aids

• Develop coaching/mentoring guides and resources

• Develop participants assessments

• Conduct pilot program to test that program meets client requirements

Page 8: ADDIE

IMPLEMENTATION

• Implement trainings, transfer strategies

• Produce program, materials and aids

• Cover the course curriculum

• Collect participants feedback

Page 9: ADDIE

EVALUATION

• Consists of two parts: formative and summative.

• Formative evaluation is present in each stage of the ADDIE process.

• Summative evaluation consists of tests designed for domain specific criterion-related referenced items and providing opportunities for feedback from the users which were identified

Page 10: ADDIE

EVALUATION

• Collect training program evaluation

• Collect project evaluation data

• Review training program

• Review project performance

• Report program and project performance results

Page 11: ADDIE

ADVANTAGES OF THE MODEL

• Cost effective

• Saves time and trouble

• Promotes effective learning

• Systematic

Page 12: ADDIE

DIS-ADVANTAGES OF THE MODEL• Analyzing may be lengthy and time-consuming

• Designing None of the design process may take much time, especially if it is evaluated and revised

• Developing depending on the materials, cost or availability may affect production

• Implementation will not know outcome unless implemented. If there was a flaw in the process, it will be exposed in this stage. As a result, a revision must occur which may mean more time and money

• Evaluation this evaluation process can significantly increase the time to create a suitable design, which can be difficult especially if time is limited.

CONCLUSION

• The ADDIE model helps to instructional designers with a step-by-step guideline for building effective training and performance support tools .

• This model consists of five phases: Analysis Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation
