The deep historical ties between Ethiopia and Italy have always contributed to build strong bilateral relations.
In recent years, the economic and commercial relations between the two countries have intensified, as a consequence of the economic growth in Ethiopia and of its Government’s willingness to open up the economic system to international markets. Italy is, in fact, among the first suppliers of imported goods to Ethiopia. Italy is historically present in this Country with different and well known industrial groups engaged in public works, such as transports and infrastructures sector, water treatment and power plants. Italy is also appreciated in Ethiopia for the high quality of its goods and equipments crafted by our small and medium companies in several different sectors.
At present, Ethiopia is a Country that deserves close monitoring from the Italian counterpart, for its opportunities. The potential Italian investors need to explore carefully the Country and undertake a thorough economical and political analysis, in order to implement viable definitive project plans and to avoid possible obstacles and difficulties.
I am therefore pleased that the Italian Trade Commission, together with Italian Embassy and IBCA (the Association of Italian entrepreneurs in Ethiopia), has confirmed a larger participation of Italian companies to the 2013 Addis Chamber International Trade Fair ACITF, a sign of the firm commitment of the Italian Institutions to promote a better understanding of this Country. During ACITF, an “Italian Day” (“Giornata Italia”) will be organized to create an additional opportunity to present the participating Italian companies to Ethiopian entrepreneurs and Institutions, further boosting the possibilities of “Made in Italy” in this Country.My best wishes to everybody!The Italian AmbassadorRenzo Rosso

Scambia winery is part of the historic Antica Selva di Meana Estate. It extends over 600 acres in Allerona district, a few miles from Orvieto in Umbria. Wine growing dates back to the Etruscans and this site and wine culture did strictly link together, as they are to this very day. Dr. Scambia took over the Estate in 1977. He recognized the wine growing potential of the area and has not dispersed the genetic inheritance there, by grafting the new wines while keeping most of the old ones. His efforts have been rewarded through the production of world awarded wines such as Pinot Nero. The viticultural approach, always taken, has been one of respect and sensitivity which distinguish Umbrian vines and soil. Reds: Pinot Nero, Sangiovese, Montepulciano, Canaiolo , Ciliegiolo. Whites: Pinot Bianco, Vermentino, Grechetto,. Production potential: 1.000.000 bottles. Also there is a production of distinctive Extra Virgin Olive Oil made from the finest olives grown in the estate. Regular wine tastings, buffet lunch and events are held upon reservation.
