Let’s start to go beyond traditional product development!

Gain in-depth technology and material know-how

Learn from Siemens’ Additive Manufacturing (AM) use cases

Work in a totally interactive environ-ment on industry relevant use cases supported by AM experts

Work together in cross-functional teams in a highly innovative environment

Gain hands-on experience in a real AM lab and explore what it means to use the full potential of AM for new designs of any shape

5 important reasons to participate in the training

Aconity3D is a start-up, located on Aachen’s high-technology campus of the RWTH Uni-versity and Fraunhofer research institute. With the technological background in pro-duction and informatics of the founder team, the company’s focus is set on 3D printing of metal parts by means of powder bed laser melting. From this, maximal cus-tomer satisfaction is strived for by offering sustainable solutions through a holistic combination of the business units: Equip-ment, Job Shop, Consulting, Material Distri-bution and Testing Facilities.

The Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technol-ogy is one of the largest research institutes in its field. The unique combination of laser source development and laser material pro-cessing allows for a “Tailored Light” approach, in which the ideal laser tool is applied for demanding customer-specific applications. Fraunhofer ILT’s Rapid Manu-facturing Group acts as a pioneer in the field of direct metal processing by means of Selective Laser Melting and is constantly seeking to further the current state of the art in Additive Manufacturing.

Siemens AM Technical trainings jointly developed with Aconity3D

For the last decade, 3D printing was only used in product development, e.g., for data visualization and rapid prototyping.

Several industry examples now give indi-cation that Additive Manufacturing could be a game changer for the manufacturing industry in a way that will revolutionize the economy.

Additive Manufacturing is on its way to becoming a mass market technology.

However, this innovation renaissance will only accelerate as companies move beyond redesigning existing products to creating new products that are today unimaginable!

Trainings content: AM Technical Starter Training

These trainings provide comprehensive insights into Additive Manufacturing (AM), spanning from fundamentals to applications to technology outlook. Participants will learn about the main AM technologies and respective materials and will discover how material properties and process parameters influence cost and quality. Intensive theoreti-cal design sessions and supplementary exercises provide you a working knowledge of what to consider for creating a “printable” design, considering relevant AM design rules. The understanding of AM-critical risk factors such as health and safety and the presen-tation of an entire AM approach shown on a Siemens example will help you to conceptu-alize Additive Manufacturing in a holistic manner.

AM fundamentals, design rules and process parameters

Data preparation and get ready for printing

AM cost drivers and learning from a Siemens approach

Coaching session

Post processing, quality measures and the big picture

Trainings Content: AM Technical Advanced Training

In this training the participants run through the entire Additive Manufacturing value chain from generating first new ideas to designing of AM parts and up to pre- and post-processing and quality assurance. Please be aware that the first 2 days of this train-ings are identical to the AM Technical Starter Training (see description above). Furthermore, participants will have the chance to interactively experience an entire print process: from powder preparation and positioning of the part in the build room to the final quality check. The alternating theoretical and practical training sessions along the entire value chain of additive Manufacturing and learning from Siemens examples gives you the ability to identify and implement AM use cases in your area of business.
