PROTOCOLS: It is my pleasure to welcome you to this august occassion of the international nurses day 2015 themed: "Nurses: A Force for Change, care effective Cost Effective". The event which targets nurse leaders at all levels and settings including ministries, education, boards, agencies, civil societies, religious, political and prominent nurse individuals, is geared towards not only providing an opportunity where frontline stakeholders in health will take appraisal, strategize and renew commitment to improving quality of care delivery service but also advocate and prepare nurses in understanding and engaging political process, social marketing of positive image, forming collaborative working relationship with government and non governmental organizations as well as the media to exert influence and participate in health and public policy development and decision making. The goal is to spotlight the value of nurses and highlight our roles in a cost effective health care system. Nursing is often described as a sleeping giant that should be awakened to realize its full potential.
