TRAINS – Located on the south-eastern corner of Anzac Highway and Greenhill Road, Adelaide Showground Station is fully integrated with the Showground.

Call the Adelaide Metro Infoline on 1800 182 160 or visit www.adelaidemetro.com.au for bus, tram and train timetable information.

This information is correct at time of posting but can be subject to change. Visitors should check prices and details prior to travelling.

Every retailer at The Stitches & Craft Show has a chalkboard where they can write up their show specials or new products!

Getting to the show...

Welcome to our FIRST Stitches & Craft Show! Many of you reading this will be familiar with our November Craft & Quilt Fair and, in response to many requests to visit Adelaide a second time each year, we are thrilled to bring this new event to the calendar – The Stitches & Craft Show to be held in May. We hope that you’ll come along and enjoy the sewing, embroidery, crochet, papercraft and jewellery features and workshops that we have planned.

At the show, look out for the chalkboard on each stand where exhibitors can write their show specials or new products, and there’s also a colour-coded flag which represents their product category – patchwork, papercraft, etc.

There are some interesting new twists on traditional crafts at the show. If you haven’t tried quilling – using rolled paper strips to create three-dimensional designs, then I think you’ll be inspired to do so after you see the work of guest artist Christine Donehue.

Weaving is back – simple woven wall hangings make a great decorative feature in your home and it’s such a soothing pastime. Visit the Spinners and Weavers guild stand to see what they’re up to.

Get hooked on crochet or knitting – it’s a perfect craft for the coming cooler months. And get great ideas for textile art on everything from jewellery to art quilts. Also visit the new Bite Size Papercraft Techniques area for clever ideas to use in your cards and scrapbooking.

Did you enjoy colouring-in as a child? The good news is that colouring-in for grown-ups is a huge trend in Europe and, as well as being fun, it’s relaxing and stress-reducing. What’s this about? Think gorgeous detailed images printed in simple line drawings ready for you to colour with pencils or felt pens. Instead of picking up a glass of wine at the end of the day, pick up a pencil! This trend is so big in France at present that colouring books are outselling cookbooks – come and check it out at the show.

Japanese crafts are always fascinating – take a look at the art of sashiko and see some beautiful shibori as well. Plus there are woodturning demonstrations on every day and some great jewellery to make – it all seems to be covered at this show.

Don’t miss the handmade knitwear parades plus hands-on classes in all things from decorating lanterns and shoes to jewellery making, sewing, making bags, shibori, quilling and cardmaking. Come and kick start your creative year!

See you there,

“I aim for zero waste in manufacture through handmade techniques and also seek fairly traded practice with under- privileged communities for their economic empowerment”, says Charlene. The textiles she produces are made from the purest of natural fibres, preferably certified organic and sustainably sourced, using Australian plant dyes.

1 eschalot, finely chopped

3 egg yolks

125g butter, melted, cooled
