Grounding: Celebrating Your Leadership
How do you plan to celebrate the incredibly hard work, successes, and growth that you have led?◦Individually reflect on what, how, and
when you will celebrate with your staff?
◦Record your idea on a post-it.◦When prompted, join a colleague from
a different cluster.◦Share ideas as a cluster.
Key Learning ObjectivesReview and clarify expectations for SIP. Review and clarify expectations for
core instruction and system of interventions action plans.
Clarify summer PD opportunities related to core instruction and system of interventions.
Provide update on Q-Comp re-write following focus group with BEA executive board.
Focus on Core Instruction
“If the last 30 years have taught us anything, it’s that institutions will neglect even the most obvious and powerful practices unless we focus on them—and them alone—until they’re truly understood and implemented.”

Key Notes & Common ExpectationsKey dates for sharing our work will
continue to be established.Note the following preliminary
benchmarks:◦April/May : principals clarify expectations for
action plans, meet with TLT directors, and establish categorical budgets supporting the SIP
◦Spring/Summer: SIP and PD plans are created as well as a plan for monitoring and sharing via Google sites
◦Fall: plans are launched ◦November: principals present prior year results
and current year plans with school board
Surveys on Learning, Collaboration, & Results
Links and directions for the learning, collaboration, and results surveys will be sent to principals early next week.
The survey window will be open through May.
Survey results will be processed as part of our DLT retreat in June (18-19).
Refocus Professional Development
“For a time—perhaps a few years—schools and districts should devote the lion’s share of their professional development time and resources to courses and workshops with dull titles like “Curriculum 101,” “Effective Teaching 101,” “Literacy 101,” and “PLCs 101.” In offerings like these, educators would become thoroughly acquainted with the evidence that demonstrates that these structures and practices would have more effect than all other initiatives combined.”
M. Schmoker
Summer PD OptionsA calendar of events and
descriptions will be finalized and shared after tomorrow’s TLT meeting.
A PDF will be posted on the TLT web page and will reflect when updates are made to the calendar.
Core Instruction: Common Expectations
District
• What does the district need to do (& document) to support the development of core instruction?
Principal
• What do principals need to do (& document) to support the development of core instruction?
Teachers
• What do teachers need to do (& document) to support the development of core instruction?
(Initially Processed November 17)
Clarifying Core InstructionUsing the Google doc for your
cluster, consider each of the expectations for core instruction.
Discuss the relevance of each expectation.
Finally, document your cluster’s responses to the three questions to the right of the expectation.
Clarifying Core InstructionWhat does TLT need to do to clarify
and fully support the implementation of the expectation?
What do buildings (principals and collaborative teams) need to do to fully support the implementation of the expectation?
What do individual teachers need to do to fully support the implementation of the expectation?
What PD Is Needed?Add a column to the right of the
final column on your cluster’s Google doc.
Generate a list of suggestions for PD that would support…◦Our buildings◦Our collaborative teams◦Principals ◦DLT and/or BLT members◦Teachers
Clarifying System of InterventionsAs a cluster, identify criteria that should
guide the development of a district-wide system of interventions and enrichments.
Consider the following:◦ Draft copy of K-6 Intervention Process Flowchart◦ Updates for parents of G/T students◦ Standardizing TAT (bat, cat, dat, fat, hat, rat, sat)
process◦ Connecting PBIS data to core instruction and
system of interventionsDocument your list of emerging
criteria/expectations on your cluster’s Google doc
