Entrance Examination

Admission to the PGDTM programme is made on the basis of overall performance in an aptitude test

held in the second week of May, Group discussion, and personal interview. The test is conducted at

Gwalior, Bhubaneshwar, New Delhi, Chennai, Bengaluru, Guwahati, Patna, Mumbai, Kolkata and Jaipur.

IITTM accepts CAT scores as well.

Pattern of examination

The written test consists of sections on English ability, Quantitative ability, Reasoning and Awareness of

national and global issues. There are a total 200 questions to be answered in 150 minutes. Wrong

answers carry negative marks.

IITTM offers four types of Post Graduate Diploma Programmes (PGDM) at three locations:

The Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) with Travel and Tourism is accredited by AICTE and

equivalent to MBA. It focuses on management of business in tourism and travel sectors. The 12 months

PGDTM is a full time course for graduates from all disciplines. This programme trains young men and

women for taking up employment in business organizations or self employment and/or carrying forward

their family business.

IITTM also offers short-duration programmes designed to provide state-of-the-art training to update

working executives whose formal education was completed some years ago. This encompasses various

areas focused on the synergy between the participant’s personal growth and the organization’s

How to prepare for the examination?

English: To prepare for the vocabulary and English Usage section, you must increase your knowledge of

the English language. Try to focus on the general meaning and structure of the sentence. Prepare from

books by Thomas and Martinet, Neffield, Wren and Martin. You could also study from ‘Objective English’

by Prasad, and ‘English is Easy’ by Chetan Anand. Do some exercises of usage and comprehension from

SAT by Barron.

QA and Reasoning: For Mathematics, you could prepare from books by Krishna, R.D. Sharma and

objective Mathematics by Tata McGraw Hill publishers. You can brush up your reasoning skills from

Verbal and Non verbal Reasoning by R.S. Agarwal and books by Edgar Thorpe.

General Knowledge: Questions on General knowledge test your current awareness of situations

happening in India and around the world. Read the newspapers daily and maintain a scrap book of

major events. You could also brush up your General Knowledge from current affairs magazines,

Manorama or CSR yearbook.

candidates are also eligible and are required to take the Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) at

a test centre outside India, taken not earlier than November 2008, and submit such scores while

applying to IMI.

Selection process: Candidates who have appeared for the CAT 2010 examination or furnished valid

GMAT score and have applied to IMI will be short listed on the basis of information provided in the

application form, CAT scores (sectional and overall) or GMAT score, educational background, marks in

10th, 12th, graduation and work experience. Only short listed candidates will be called for the final stage

of the selection process. Group discussion or extempore speaking, personal interview besides other

qualitative parameters, including and not restricted to essay writing, will constitute the core

components of the final stage of the selection process. The overall objective being to identify and assess

the candidate's potential for a managerial career.

IIST Admission Test (ISAT-2011)

Admissions to the undergraduate programmes (BTech) at IIST for the year 2011 will be made through an

All India Admission Test (ISAT-2011). Brief information about ISAT – 2011 is given below. More detailed

information will be available at the ISAT-2011 website from 1st November 2010.

BTech Programmes

1. BTech in Aerospace Engineering: It is similar to programmes of the same title available in many

reputed Institutions in India and abroad. The programme in IIST is oriented towards the needs of space

technology, and has significant overlap with Mechanical Engineering including Mechanical Design and

Manufacturing Science and Space Dynamics. People with BTech degree in Aerospace Engineering can

further specialize in Flight Mechanics, Aerodynamics, Thermal and Propulsion, Structure and Design, and

Manufacturing Science.

2. BTech in Avionics: The programme covers what is typically covered in Electronics and

Communications programmes and in addition, provides exposure to Advanced Electronics in digital and

communication, control systems and computer systems used in aerospace systems. People with BTech.

degree in Avionics can later specialize in areas like DSP, RF & Communication, Antenna, Power

Electronics, Micro Electronics, Control System etc.

3. BTech in Physical Sciences: This programme is oriented towards application of basic sciences in

Space Science, Space Technology and Space Application. The programme lays a strong foundation in

Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and gives exposure to important applications of space technology such

as Remote Sensing and GIS, Astronomy and Astrophysics, and Earth System Sciences. People with BTech

degree in Physical Science can later specialize in areas like Atmospheric and Ocean sciences, Solid Earth

Science, Astronomy and Astrophysics, Remote Sensing & GIS, and Chemical Systems. The curriculum will

have the best blend of basic science and engineering.

Intake

The total number of seats for the undergraduate programmes in IIST for the year 2011 is 156. The

branch-wise distribution of seats is as follows:

BTech in Aerospace Engineering: 59 seats

BTech in Avionics: 58 seats

BTech in Physical Sciences: 39 seats

Eligibility: ELIGIBILITY FOR ISAT-2011

Candidates must make sure that they satisfy all the eligibility conditions given below for appearing in

ISAT-2011:

1. Citizenship

Only Indian citizens are eligible to write ISAT-2011.

2. Date of Birth

The date of birth of candidates belonging to GEN, OBC categories should be on or after October 1, 1986,

while the date of birth of those belonging to SC, ST and PD categories should be on or after October 1,

1981.

(The date of birth as recorded in the high school/first Board/ Pre-University certificate/or its equivalent

will be accepted).

3. Year of passing Qualifying Examination (QE)

A candidate must have passed the QE for the first time, in the calendar year 2010 or 2011. Those who

are going to appear in the QE after July 1, 2011 or expecting the results of QE later than July 1, 2011 are

not eligible to apply for ISAT-2011.

4. Minimum Percentage of Marks in Class X or equivalent examination.

Candidates belonging to GEN and OBC categories must secure at least 70% marks in aggregate in their

Class X or equivalent examination, while, those belonging to SC, ST and PD categories must secure at

least 60% marks in aggregate in their Class X or equivalent examination.

5. Minimum Percentage of Marks in 10 + 2 or equivalent examination

Candidates belonging to GEN and OBC categories must secure at least 70% marks in the aggregate in

their Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) papers in their QE, while, those belonging to SC,ST and

PD categories must secure at least 60% marks in the aggregate in their PCM papers in their QE.

6. RESERVATION OF SEATS

As per Government of India rules candidates belonging to certain categories are admitted to seats

reserved for them based on relaxed criteria. These categories are:

* Scheduled Castes (SC)

* Scheduled Tribes (ST)

* Other Backward Castes (OBC) belonging to Non-Creamy Layer (NCL)

* Physically Disabled (PD) candidates.

Important Dates: Schedule of ISAT-2011

The examination will be held on Saturday, 16th April, 2011 between 09:30 AM to 12:30 PM (IST)

(The schedule will remain unaltered even if the above date is declared a public holiday).

Type of Examination

The question paper will be of objective type and will consist of three separate sections on Physics,

Chemistry and Mathematics. The detailed syllabi based on which ISAT-2011 will be conducted, for the

three subjects, namely, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics will be included in the ISAT – 2011

Brochure which will be available in ISAT-2011 webpage from 1st November, 2010.

All India Pre Medical / Pre Dental Entrance Examination 2011, AIPMT 2011, Admission to MBBS/BDS

Exam Details: Applications are invited for All India Pre Medicat / Pre Dental Entrance Examination

(AIPMT) 2011 to be conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education, Delhi as per the following

schedule for admission to 15% of the total seats for Medical / Dental Courses in all Medical / Dental

Colleges run by the Union of India, State Governments, Municipal and other local authorities in India

except in the States of ANDHRA PRADESH and JAMMU & KASHMIR:-

Preliminary Examination - 3rd April, 2011 (Sunday)

Final Examination -15th May, 2011 (Sunday)

PATTERN OF EXAMINATION

Both Preliminary and Final Examination would be Objective type.

Eligibility: Eligibility Criteria:-

(i) He/She has completed age of 17 years at the time of admission or will complete the age on or before

31st December of the year of his/her admission to the 1st year MBBS / BDS course and is an Indian

NATIONAL

(ii)The upper age limit for All India Pre Medical / Pre Dental Entrance Examination is 25 years as on 31st

December of the year of the entrance examination. Further provided that upper age limit shall be

relaxed by a period of 5 (five) years for the candidates of Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes/Other

Backward Classes.

(iii) The candidate must have passed in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Bio-technology and

English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics,

Chemistry and Biology / Bio-technology at the qualifying examination. In respect of candidates

belonging to Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribes or Other Backward Classes the marks obtained in

Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Bio-technology taken together in qualifying examination be 40% instead

of 50% for General Candidates. Further, for persons for locomotory disability of lower limbs, the

minimum of 45% marks for General PH and 40% marks for SC-PH/ ST-PH/OBC-PH are required. Those

who are taking plus two examination in 2011 can also appear for the entrance test provisionally subject

to their fulfilling the conditions later.

RESERVATION OF SEATS

15% seats for SC candidates, 7.5% seats for ST candidates, 27% seats for non-creamy layer OBC

candidates in Central Institutions only and 3% seats on horizontal basis for Physically Handicapped

candidates are reserved in 15% All India Quota for MBBS / BDS courses.

Online submission of application may be made by accessing the Board's www.aipmt.nic.in from

15.11.2010 (10.00 AM) to 31.12.2010 (5.00 PM). Instructions for sending online application, payment of

fee and computer generated printout are available on website. Candidates submitting on-line

application have been given exemption of Rs 100/- in the examination fee irrespective of their category.

Accordingly, fee of Rs 700/- for General/OBC Category Candidates and Rs 350/- for SC/ST Category

Candidates may be remitted in the following ways:

ü By Credit Card, OR

ü Through Demand Draft in favour of Secretary, Central Board of Secondary Education, Delhi drawn

on any Nationalized Bank payable at Delhi.

(ii) Offline

Offline submission of Application may be made on the prescribed Application Form. The Information

Bulletin and Application Form costing Rs 800/- for General/OBC Category and Rs 450/- for SC/ST

category can be obtained against Cash Payment from the designated branches of Canara Bank/Regional

Offices of the CBSE between 13.12.2010 to 31.12.2010. Information Bulletin and Application Form can

also be obtained by Post from the Board by sending a written request with a Demand Draft for Rs 850/-

for General/OBC Category and Rs 500/- for SC/ST Category payable to the Secretary, Central Board of

Secondary Education, Delhi along with a Self Addressed Envelope of size 12" x 10". The request must

reach to the Board on or before 24.12.2010. The request should be superscribed as "Request for

Information Bulletin and Application Form for AIPMT-2011".
