Workshop Objectives: The participants will be able to:

• Describe the journey from Open Access to Open Educational Resources

• Identify OER using creative common lisences

• Search and use OER for teaching and learning

• Create OER using OER through revise, remix method

• Complete COL’s 2hrs MOOC on OER and earn a Certificate

Date: 28-30 September 2020

Participants: 154 participants Faculty members, IT staff, Library professionals, SLM writers, Content

developers, Leaderships, etc. from PSSOU and various other institution participated in this workshop.

Proceedings:

The Programme started by welcoming esteemed guest by Programme coordinator Mr. Reshamlal

Pradhan, Head, Department of Computer Science. While inaugurating the workshop Prof. Bansh Gopal

Singh, Honourable Vice Chancellor, PSSOU Chhattisgarh, Bilaspur, emphasized the need for quality in

content development, content creation in regional language and the growing demand of video lecture.

He focused on four key areas of content creation and development, these included improvement in

quality of materials, timely updating or revision of materials, creation of self-learning materials in local

or regional language and video lecture preparation. He appreciated the role of CEMCA in providing the

assistance in organizing this workshop. Prof. Madhu Parhar, Director, CEMCA and Dr. Manas Ranjan

Panigrahi, Senior Programme officer (Education), CEMCA enlightened the participants on the goals of

the workshop to understand the Open Educational Resources (OER) and its licensing policy. This

workshop was coordinated by Mr. Reshamlal Pradhan, Head, Department of Computer Science and Dr.

Pushkar Dubey, Head, Department of Management. The Workshop was facilitated by Dr. Jeetendra

Pande, Uttarakhand Open University, Haldwani and Dr. Nisha Singh, Deputy Director, Center for online

education, IGNOU.

During the first session of expert talk Dr. Jeetendra Pande, Uttarakhand Open University explained the

concept of open contents and myths related to OER. He also enlightened on the various aspects of

design and development of self-learning materials with reference to the standard benchmarks

followed by Uttarakhand Open University. The OER life cycle including preparing, searching, classifying,

repurposing, value addition, publishing and delivery of material resources were also thoroughly

addressed in his lecture. In the second session the participants were asked to do hands on practices.

During the first session of day two Dr. Manas ranjan panigrahi, delivered his expert lecture on Quality

Assurance of OER. He thoroughly explained TIPS framework regarding assurance of quality in the Open

Educational Resources. Second session on day two and first session of day three of the workshop was

delivered by Dr. Nisha Singh, Deputy Director, Center for online education, IGNOU. She explained on

various ways to access open educational materials from various sources and also explained various

types of licensing available for open educational resources under creative commons. The mixing of

licensing were also part of her expert talk. During the event the participants were encouraged for

discussion and online quizzes.

On the third day of the valedictory session Dr. Indu Anant, Registrar of Pandit Sundarlal Sharma (Open)

University highlighted the work of the University and offered thanks to Vice Chancellor, experts,

organisers and the participants of the workshop. In the end Dr. Pushkar Dubey, Head, Department of

Management, presented the formal vote of thanks.
