• The elements that make up my beautiful baby Adrenaline are carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, and oxygen.

• The chemical formula is C9H13NO3

Subunits of Adrenaline• A subunit of Adrenaline is the “G proteins”

• They were discovered when Adrenaline’s “uncles”, Alfred G. Gilman and Martin Rodbell wanted to investigate stimulation of cells in Adrenaline

• Adrenaline binds to a receptor, but the receptor won’t stimulate enzymes directly

• The receptor will stimulate the “G protein”, which will then stimulate the enzyme

* A “G protein” (guanine nucleotide-binding protein) is a protein that is involved in transmitting chemical signals from outside the cell, which will then cause changes inside the cell.

Functional Groups!

• Adrenaline is a very talented baby, and contains 2 functional groups, impressive I know. I’m so proud =) The two groups are: NH2 and OH.

• Since my baby is so talented I know you are all wondering the above question.. What organic compound he is. And the answer to that riveting question is Epinephrine! Oohhh ahhhh.

• The function of Epinephrine is to increase heart rate, dilate air passages and participate in the fight-or-flight response of the sympathetic nervous system.
