OUR FOUNDER’S REVIEW

Your wildest dream come true Bespoke is not often a word you would associate with a private African game lodge, it is often more suited to the expensive and lavish tailoring found in London's Saville Row. And yet this is the word that prominently springs to mind when visiting Fever tree Lodge, nestled against the hills of the world famous Waterberg in Limpopo, South Africa. The consideration and thought that has been poured into each and every facet of this lodge defies comprehension and it radiates the true soul of South African history from every corner. Fever Tree celebrates the African pioneer and incorporates elements of our rich culture and past. Each feature room is themed exclusively based on this concept and ranges from british colonial influences, through to the Groot Trek and up to the Masai of Kenya and Tanzania. I found that my every need was catered for from the wine cellar through to the wood burning pizza oven and the secluded lapas, Fever Tree offers something for everyone. Its ideal location a short 4 hour drive from Johannesburg makes it a popular tourist spot for those wanting short, weekend breaks or extended luxury stay overs – Fever Tree will leave them with the true spirit of that intangible Africa spirit. The Waterberg has an abundance of greenery and does not suffer from water shortages found further north in other typically game rich provinces and farms. The art and décor is both opulent and textured and offers an amazing contrast to the backdrop of the African bushveld. This Lodge is situated in the malaria-free reserve of Mokaikai that boasts 4 out of the Big 5 – a treat for the eyes and a wonder for the soul if you are lucky enough to catch the majestic king of the jungle reclining under an Acacia during the heat of the day, or send shivers down the spine when you hear their roars reverberating off the mountains as the sun sinks below the horizon. Hear the jackals cackle while observing over 300 bird species from the look outs. A piece of your heart and soul will be forever captured here. For those more inclined towards a more energetic getaway the surrounding area offers activities that range from quad biking to horse trails and star gazing. The climate is moderate and can be enjoyed throughout the year. This lodge is truly something special and upon leaving it, it will have captured your heart like it did mine and you will hear the roar of the lion in your dreams for time to come.

Kind regards,

FEVERTREE LODGE THE PILLAR COLLECTION

FEVERTREE LODGE Nestled in the foothills of the Waterberg is a beautifully appointed private luxury lodge, set against

a backdrop of lush green mountainous vegetation overlooking the wide open plains of

approximately 12000 hectare malaria-free Mokaikai Game Reserve, one of South Africa's finest

private Game Reserves and home to an abundance of wildlife and bird life, including the Big-4 and

cheetah. The 1 900 m²Lodge is made up of 10 separate thatched and stone-clad buildings

The Owner has skilfully designed & developed his home Fevertree to an exceptionally high

standard indicative of his vast experience as Project Manager for leading global luxury hotel

brands, (Hilton, Intercontinental, Four Seasons, Ritz Carlton, W Hotels, Conrad, Kempinski, the

Kerzner Groups Southern Sun, Sun International and One & Only) and working closely with Giorgio

Armani, developing his brand of Armani Hotels in Dubai, Milan and Marrakesh.

The ‘look’ of Fevertree is the comfortably luxurious 21st Century version of ‘pioneering’ interior

favouring bold elements which graciously align with its wilderness exterior.

Fevertree’s bespoke interiors and magnificent attention to detail is a gutsy evocation of the lifestyle

of its Owner and the sheer creative individuality of each locale paying homage to cultural &

historical icons of Africa (human & cultural), beautifully captured and appointed by the owner.

Here the sensual narrative of nature is matched by the drama of the buildings. A

triumphant success!
