Wet on Wet Painting


Instructor: Pauline Stitt

No experience or talent required! Paint a

complete professional oil painting in one

night! Learn how to paint the Wet-on-Wet method popularized by Bob Ross and other television artists. Our

experienced instructor, Pauline Stitt, will

lead you step-by-step through this technique that makes it easy

and fun to create your own masterpiece in one evening! Oil

paints, canvas, and easel will be provided. Student will need to

supply own brushes or they can be purchased from the

instructor on the first night of class.

Young and old alike can discover creativity with this proven

method. Wear old clothing. Samples of the finished projects

are on display at the Community Education office. Held at

OVCEC Room 16.

Therapy Dog Training

Therapy dogs come in all sizes,

ages, and breeds. The most

important characteristic of a therapy dog is its temperament. A

suitable therapy dog MUST be friendly, patient, confident,

gentle, and at ease in unfamiliar situations. They must enjoy

human contact and being petted and handled by unfamiliar

children and adults.

If this sounds like your dog, come join us for this 6-week class

focusing on canine-assisted pet therapy. Our class is designed to

prepare you and your dog for this rewarding volunteer

opportunity! Dogs need proof of vaccinations, possess basic

obedience skills and be comfortable around other dogs.

Using the positive reinforcement method of training, dogs

Introduction to the top two hundred prescription drugs list

(based on more than 2.4 billion prescriptions). Learn the

fundamentals of utilizing a Physicians Desk Reference (PDR) to extract pertinent information on drug usage/dosage/

contraindications.

MEDICAL OFFICECODING

Learn how to use the CPT manual and the ICD-9-CM to find

medical codes for any disease, condition, treatment, or surgical

procedure. Prereq: Keyboarding, Basic understanding of PC,

Medical Terminology, Pharmacology. Cost $197

Target Tuesdays

Develop or enhance your medical office skills by taking one or

more of the following courses. All classes meet Tuesday

evenings for 6 weeks, 5-9 pm. Start almost any week!

MEDICAL OFFICECLAIMS PROCESSING

Basic knowledge and understanding of the medical insurance

billing process, familiarity with insurance billing forms, rules

and regulations on filing claims. Introduction to different types

of insurance. Prereq: Keyboarding, Medical Terminology,

Pharmacology, Medical Coding (required for Coders and

Billers). Cost $147 tuition + $88 book = $235

MEDICAL OFFICETRANSCRIPTION

Learn a working knowledge of the transcription of medical

reports. Prereq: Typing speed minimum 50 words per minute,

The Orchard View Community Education Nurse Aide/Home

Health Aide course is an approved 190+ hour training

program developed in cooperation with and endorsed by

nursing home facilities and home health care agencies in the

Muskegon area. It includes classroom lecture, laboratory work,

and on-the-job clinical training in an area nursing home facility.

Learn the critical skills needed to respond to and manage a first

aid, choking or sudden cardiac arrest emergency in the first few

minutes until emergency medical services (EMS) arrives. We

have broken down this valuable information into two classes:

CPR/AED and First Aid/BBP. OR you can take them all together as a full day class (lunch will be provided on the full

day Heartsaver class). Call our office for additional dates
