What is an Adult-GerontologyNurse Practitioner?An Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner(A-GNP) Primary Care is an advanced practiceregistered nurse (APRN) who provides care inambulatory and long-term care settings. Whilefocusing on health promotion and diseaseprevention, A-GNPs acquire advanced skills inhealth assessment, diagnosis, and managementof acute and chronic health problems. A-GNPsin primary care deliver comprehensive care toyoung, middle, and older adults in a variety ofsettings with an emphasis on outpatient care.
What services do NPs provide?• Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests• Diagnose and treat acute and chronicconditions such as infections, injuries,mental health problems, hypertension, anddiabetes
• Coordinate patients’ overall health care• Teach/coach patients for healthier lifestylemanagement

What criteria must be met to apply?• Completion of a baccalaureate degreeprogram with an NLNAC or CCNEaccredited major in nursing from a regionally accredited institution or the equivalent, as determined by theDepartment of Nursing Faculty
• GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) or higher• Current RN licensure in Pennsylvania• Successful completion of undergraduatestatistics, physical assessment, andnursing research courses
• One year of relevant nursing practice• Interview with Graduate AdmissionsCommittee
The YCP Graduate Programs in Nursing has four tracks:
• Adult-Gerontology Nurse PractitionerPrimary Care (A-GNP) two or threeyear program
• Adult-Gerontology Nurse PractitionerPrimary Care (A-GNP) Post-Master’sCertificate
• Adult-Gerontology Clinical Nurse Specialist education focus (CNS/Ed)
• Nurse Anesthetist• Nurse Educator (NE)
Application deadline is March 1 of eachyear for fall enrollment of the
Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner Track.
