Thoughts on utilizing a Steampunk Island
Adult Learners and Second Life
I visited one of
the Steampunk
Islands, and
ended up
wandering
around quite a
bit. First off, I
think I have
found one of the
most beautiful
places ever. It
was just…
gorgeous and
relaxing.
Again, absolutely
gorgeous. I could
definitely convince
my leaners to give
Second Life a try if
I brought them
into an
environment like
this. Getting them
to explore and play
somewhere pretty
and relaxing would
be key before
working on topics I
have planned to
cover.
I found this
teahouse and was
instantly enamored.
This would be a
quiet, casual place
to meet with some
of my adult
learners to chat
and exchange
ideas. The small
separate tables
even allow for small
group conversation
I also ran into this
fantastic theater.
Something like
this would be
perfect for sharing
ideas/presentation
s with my groups
of adult learners.
Again, I want to
break away from
the
traditional/formal
to ease up on what
I have noticed to
be stressors. This
could be honestly
fun.
Again with my
finding neat
places for groups
to meet and chat.
How comfy does
this look? Better
than plastic
chairs in a
conference room
in front of a
SMART Board,
right? And still
just as good for
exchanging
information and
ideas.
After all that
conferencing and
presenting we
could visit the pier
and enjoy the sea.
An island like this
would be an
awesome mix of
area to present
and discuss and to
just enjoy
exploring and
becoming
comfortable with
this sort of
collaboration and
communication.
