E-CAT™ Clarifier-ThickenerThe EIMCO® E-CATTM Clarifier-Thickener streamlines liquid-solidseparation flowsheets by combiningoptimized flocculation, high-rate clari-fication and high-density thickening ina single compact unit with no movingparts. The E-CATTM Clarifier’s deeptank and steep compaction cone con-centrate settled solids, while annularrows of clarifying cylinders aggregateand remove fine suspended solids fromthe overflow liquor. An internal cone/pipe system rapidly channels free waterto the feedwell for influent dilution.

EIMCO® Deep Cone™ andHigh-Density Paste ThickenersEIMCO® Deep ConeTM and High-DensityPaste Thickeners optimize flocculationand enhance settled solids compressionfor maximum underflow slurry solidsand minimum thickener footprint. DeepConeTM units accommodate up to 20times the solid mass flow and 10 timesthe volumetric loading of conventionalthickeners. Their deep tank designmaximizes pulp concentration, andproduces uniform, non-segregating,paste consistency underflow slurry.

Pyramid™ Flotation ColumnsPyramidTM flotation columns deliver highrecoveries and grades, reduce reagentconsumption, decrease maintenancecosts and lower capital expense. Thekeys to success are as follows:

Design: First and foremost, the appropri-ate number, size and layouts of flotationcolumns is accomplished by applyingthe critical design parameters and work-ing with our customers to optimize thelayout of the system. EIMCO’s highlevel of experience can guide our cus-tomers through this step.

KnowledgeScape® process control soft-ware allows engineers to maximize theeconomic gain of virtually any process-ing or manufacturing operation.KnowledgeScape® software is the firstreal-time optimization system that actu-ally learns process dynamics and adjustsprocess setpoints to achieve a true opti-mal operating regime. This is the firstexpert system operating shell ever tocohesively integrate several differentartificial technologies in a commonwrapper. The KnowledgeScape® soft-ware has met with huge successes as aresult of the unique synergy created bycombining such tools as fuzzy logic, neural networks and genetic algorithms.Installations worldwide have experi-enced large productivity increases andalmost immediate return on investment. The KnowledgeScape® software is avail-able as a retrofit system for controllingindividual unit operations or for plant-wide optimization. Sparger Selection: For the “heart” ofthe column, EIMCO Process offers theRateMax® supersonic sparger systemwhich is designed for maximumoperational flexibility and minimummaintenance.

Operation: Proper feed conditioning andselection of column flotation operatingparameters such as froth depth, aerationrate and washwater flow rate can makeor break a column installation.

Benefits of PyramidTM Columns:

Improve hydrodynamic conditions for improved flotation separation

Wear-resistant sparger nozzles

On-line sparger maintenance — No down time!

Reduced capital costs

Pyramid™ Columns Sparger & DesignEIMCO’s latest generation columnflotation sparger system, the RateMax®

supersonic sparger system provides in-credible opportunities to both improveperformance and increase operationalflexibility as well as decrease mainte-nance requirements. The exit velocity ofthe gas leaving a RateMax® nozzle isabout 50% greater than a standard col-umn sparger nozzle, which translatesinto smaller bubbles being formed. Thenet result is that the bubble surface areaflux rate, Sb, is as much as 50% higherthan traditional sparger designs. Someof the features and benefits of theRateMax® sparger include a simple, ro-bust design constructed of wear andchemical resistant ceramics, easy on-linemaintenance of the system and the abil-ity to easily retrofit any column installa-tion. Combined with our ACDSM (Auto-mated Column Designer), engineeringand design services, EIMCO has apotent combination of both technologyand tools to assist any user of columnflotation technology.

Granular Media FiltersEIMCO manufactures pressure andgravity feed granular media filters forminerals applications such as pregnantsolution filtration in SX/EW circuits. Allfilters use Flexscour® underdrains, whichhave been designed for efficient mediautilization and uniform distributionof simultaneous air scour and waterbackwashes for effective bed cleaning.Flexscour® laterals are partitioned toseparate air and water flows, allowingthe underdrain to be cleaned in place byinternally circulating high temperaturewash water. All underdrain componentsare manufactured of stainless steelfor a completely corrosion-resistantinstallation.

Pressure vessels are fabricated to ASMEcode VIII. Filter vessels are available infull stainless steel construction. Gravityfeed filters are also available in FRPconstruction. EIMCO® filters are avail-able in complete shop-fabricated, skid-mounted modules with all required in-strumentation and controls.

WEMCO® Pacesetter®

Oil/Water SeparatorsThe WEMCO® Pacesetter® oil/waterseparator has become the standard inSX-EW applications for separating aque-ous and organic streams. The Pacesetter®

separator uses a unique, two-stage pro-cess to effectively recover entrainedorganic from either raffinate or electro-lyte or to remove entrained aqueousfrom organic streams. First, influentenergy is diffused by a coalescer packcausing small droplets to collide andform larger ones. This is followed by aseparator pack that provides separatesurfaces and flow paths for aqueousand organic streams thus preventingre-entrainment. The packs are inclinedat 60 degrees to enhance solids removal. The WEMCO® Pacesetter® oil/water sep-arator is designed to handle a wide vari-ety of influent entrainment concentra-tions as well as upset conditions andcrud runs.

Pacesetter® oil/water separators are engi-neered in a range of sizes and can besupplied in a variety of materials ofconstruction such as stainless steels orFRP. Start-up and operation are simpleand reliable with little operator attentionand maintenance required.

WEMCO® HMS Drum SeparatorsWEMCO® HMS Drum Separators perform gravimetric solid-solid separations using a separating medium whose specificgravity lies between those of the substances to be separated.Sharp separations are achieved in the specific gravity rangeof 1.25 - 3.8, at feed capacities of up to 820 metric or 900 shorttons per hour. WEMCO® Drum Separators are designed tohandle abrasive materials in the size range between 6 - 300 mm(1/4" - 12"). Single and dual gravity machines are available, designed for low maintenance and service lifetimes of 15years or more.

Capacities: to 820 metric or 900 short tons/hour.
