The Golden Gate sits on the eastern wall of the Jerusalem Temple Mount and faces the Mount of Olives.

It is the most ornate and impressive of all the gates of Jerusalem. The present gate was built around 600

AD over the ruins of the ancient Eastern Gate of Jerusalem. It was through this ancient Eastern Gate that

the Lord Jesus rode on a donkey at his Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem (Mark 11:11). According to

Jewish tradition, at His coming, the Messiah will walk from the Mount of Olives and enter Jerusalem

through the Golden Gate. To prevent this entry of the Jewish Messiah into Jerusalem, the Moslem

conqueror Saladin blocked up the Golden Gate in 1187 AD and established a cemetery on the slope

outside the gate.

LON SOLOMON’S ADVANCED HOLY LAND TOUR OCTOBER 18 – 28, 2018 REGISTER BY APRIL 1, 2018

AND RECEIVE A $100 DISCOUNT PER PERSON

Dear friend,

I am happy to send you the details of our “Advanced Holy Land Tour" scheduled for October 2018.

Since 1987, I have had the privilege of leading almost four thousand people through the Holy Land. It has been my joy to

see people grow in their relationship with Christ as they walk where Jesus walked and to see people’s confidence in the

Bible deepen as they experience for themselves that “the more they dig out of the ground, the more the Bible proves to be

right.”

However, on all these tours, I have had a tough assignment--namely, choosing which places to include in our itinerary and

which ones to omit. Israel is so rich in biblical sites that it is impossible to cover them all in one trip. Every year, as I head

home from Israel, I say to myself: “There are so many other places I wish I could have taken these folks, but we just

didn’t have enough time.”

Well, Lord willing, from October 18-28, 2018, I’ll be leading an “advanced” tour of Israel. On this tour, we’ll

be visiting an entirely different set of biblical sites than on our “Best of the Holy Land” tours. I have picked a whole host

of special sites that I am personally excited about sharing with a special group of traveling friends.

Even though this tour will hold special interest for those of you who have already been to Israel, it is designed for

everyone, whether you have ever visited the Holy Land or not. If our itinerary excites you, I invite you to join us

for a special time of spiritual growth and challenge!

Here are some of the highlights of our tour:

1. A visit to Tel Dan, the northern extremity of ancient Israel, where Jeroboam built an altar (1 Kings 12:29) to keep

people in the Northern Kingdom from traveling to Jerusalem to worship. We will see this actual altar that

archaeologists have unearthed.

2. A visit to the Golden Gate outside the Old City wall of Jerusalem, where we will stand and reflect on the second

coming of Christ.

3. A visit to the Valley of Elah, where David killed Goliath (1 Kings 17).

4. A visit to Bethany where Jesus raised Lazarus (John 11).

5. A visit to the Pool of Siloam where Jesus healed the man born blind (John 9).

6. Walking the Via Dolorosa together to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre as we reflect on Jesus’ suffering and death

for our redemption.

And much, much more.

As always, I will be sharing sermons at each of the places we visit, explaining the biblical importance of the events that

occurred there and challenging us to apply to our lives today the biblical truths revealed in these events. Also, as always,

our tour is a deluxe tour that has us flying on El Al Israeli Airlines (the safest airline in the world), staying at the finest

deluxe hotels, eating the finest food, and enjoying the highest quality of services.

In addition, we are offering this tour for a lower base price than the same tour in 2013. This is unprecedented

in light of the rise in tourism in Israel. Praise the Lord!.

Please note several other bonuses:

* HLP Tours is offering a $100 discount for early registrations (registrations postmarked by April 1, 2018).

* HLP Tours is offering an interest-free payment plan to help this tour fit your budget (see enclosed information).

I hope you’ll pray about joining me for 11 wonderful days of watching the Bible come alive and allowing the Lord to

speak to your heart in the Holy Land. If you have questions, please feel free to call or fax me. Hope to see you in October!

Sincerely,

Lon Solomon

LON SOLOMON'S ADVANCED HOLY LAND TOUR OCTOBER 18 – 28, 2018

October 18, 2018 – Depart USA

October 19, 2018 – Arrive Israel. Board buses and drive to the Sea of Galilee. Check into our deluxe hotel for

dinner and overnight.

October 20, 2018 – Today, we have a full day in store for us as we rise to view the beautiful shores of the Sea

of Galilee. After a hearty Israeli breakfast, we will visit Cana, where Jesus turned water into wine (John 2).

Time will be taken here for a sermon by Lon that focuses on this significant biblical event. Next, we head to

Gideon's Spring, site of the famous events of Judges 7. Lon will share a message at this gorgeous and serene

spot regarding how these ancient events apply to our lives today. After lunch, we proceed to Nain, the village

where Jesus raised the widow's son (Luke 7:11). Time will be taken for worship and a devotional in the church

here that commemorates this event. Finally, we go to Belvoir, the most well preserved Crusader castle in Israel.

Lon will share a lesson here on the historical importance of the Crusades and their impact on Jewish and Arab

relations even to this day. After a full day, we return to our deluxe hotel for dinner and overnight.

October 21, 2018 – After a restful night, we rise to enjoy another fabulous Israeli breakfast at our deluxe hotel.

Following breakfast, we drive to the northern extremity of Israel, where we will visit the ancient city of Dan.

This city, known as Laish in Judges 18:29, was renamed "Dan" after it was captured by the tribe of Dan in the

time of Joshua. Jeroboam I established one of his two places of worship here after the division of King

Solomon's empire in c. 920 BC. The city was enlarged and fortified by King Ahab during the days of Elijah.

The city was destroyed by the Assyrians when they conquered the Northern Kingdom in 722 BC and was never

inhabited again. The city is the home of a number of impressive archaeological discoveries, including the very

altar built by King Jeroboam I (1 Kings 12:29). Time will be taken here for a message by Lon. After lunch, we

will canoe down the serene Jordan River that flows into the northern end of the Sea of Galilee. Then we will go

to the town of Magdala. Magdala was the home town of Mary Magdalene and a bustling city in the time of

Jesus. Archaelogists have unearthed a magnificent synagogue here from 29 A.D. as well as an entire city

(Matthew 15:39). Lon will share a message here about the archaeological and biblical importance of Magdala.

After an exciting day of biblical challenge, we return to our deluxe hotel for dinner and overnight.

October 22, 2018 – After a hearty breakfast, we say a fond farewell to the Sea of Galilee and head up to

Jerusalem. Along the way, we will stop in the famous city of Jericho (situation permitting) and see sections of

the ancient city wall that God brought down (Joshua 6), as well as an ancient sycamore tree just like Zacchaeus

climbed (Luke 19:4). Lon will share a message here in Jericho based on the great biblical events that took place

here. We will then go to the nearby Jordan River site where Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist (Matthew

3:15) and where Lon will baptize all who wish to be baptized. Next, we drive “up” to Jerusalem (rising 3500

feet in 15 miles!). We arrive at the Mount of Olives, where we will look out over the old city of Jerusalem,

enjoying one of the most iconic sights in the world. After a sermon here by Lon, we will walk down the “Palm

Sunday Road” together – the same road that Jesus rode on a donkey at His Triumphal Entry in Jerusalem

(Matthew 21:8) – ending in the beautiful Garden of Gethsemane. Dinner and overnight at our deluxe hotel.

October 23, 2018 – After another great Israeli breakfast, we head off to Bethlehem, the town of both David’s

and Jesus’ birth. First, we stop at the Shepherds’ Fields, where the angels announced Jesus’ birth (Luke 2:8-20).

Lon will give a sermon here at this panoramic site. We will then (situation permitting) go into Bethlehem for

lunch at a classic Middle-Eastern restaurant with amazing food. After lunch, we will visit the Church of the

Nativity, built upon the site of Jesus’ birth, and familiar to people around the world from the Christmas Eve

services that are held here every year. After a full day of exciting touring, we return to our hotel in Jerusalem.

After dinner, we will all gather to hear from our special guest, world-famous author Joel Rosenberg

(The Ezekiel Option, Epicenter, The Last Jihad, etc.). He will be speaking about how geopolitics relate to

biblical prophecies of the Last Days, and then taking questions. This will be a meeting you will not want to

miss!

October 24, 2018 – After a great night’s rest, we enter the old city of Jerusalem and go to the point where the

Via Dolorosa (“The Way of Sorrows”) begins. The Via Dolorosa traces the path that the Lord Jesus walked

from Pilate’s judgment hall to Calvary, carrying his cross as he went. We will stop at the Stations of the Cross

along the way to reflect on the events that happened at each one. Our Via Dolorosa walk culminates at the

Church of the Holy Sepulchre, one of the most venerated sites in all Christendom. Time will be taken here for

you to visit the church. After lunch, we will enter the underground Tunnel of Zedekiah. This is a new

excavation running under the ancient city of Jerusalem. Many scholars believe that it is the way that King

Zedekiah used to escape from the city of Jerusalem when it was being besieged by King Nebuchadnezzar, king

of Babylon, in 586 BC (2 Kings 25:4; Jer 52:7). This is a thrilling new discovery that you will not want to miss!

Then we will arrive at the Garden Tomb for our special time of worship and take the Lord’s Supper together.

This will be a sweet and special chance for each of us to remind ourselves about the precious death, burial, and

resurrection of our Living, Risen Savior, and Messiah – The Lord Jesus Christ! After a guided tour of the sweet

Garden Tomb, we return to our deluxe hotel for dinner. After dinner, we will hear from local Israeli believers in

Jesus and our local Jews for Jesus missionaries about evangelism in Israel, followed by a time of Q&A. It will

thrill us all to hear what great things the Lord is doing in the Holy Land! Overnight at our Jerusalem hotel.

October 25, 2018 – After a restful night, we enjoy another great breakfast and then off for a very exciting day

around the Old City of Jerusalem. We begin by going up onto the Temple Mount, the most controversial piece

of real estate in the world. Lon will talk here about the rebuilding of the Temple that the Bible predicts and

where that Temple will be constructed. He will also talk about the implications that all this has for the

fulfillment of prophecy relating to the Second Coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Then, after an exhilarating time

on the Temple Mount, we will exit the Old City through the Lions Gate and head off to another of the highlights

of our tour: a walk along the outside of the Jerusalem Old City wall to the Golden Gate. This gate is built

above the ancient Eastern Gate of the city, through which the Lord entered Jerusalem during His Triumphal

Entry (Matt 21). Tradition says that it is through this gate that the Messiah will enter Jerusalem at His coming in

glory. It was to prevent this entry of the Messiah that the Muslims blocked up the gate in 1187 AD and built a

cemetery in front of it! Time will be taken here for a message from Lon. After this, we walk down into the

Kidron Valley below the Golden Gate to visit the famous tombs of Zechariah and Absalom, where Lon will

share a devotional. After lunch, we have another highlight of our tour: we will walk through Hezekiah’s

Tunnel (2 Kings 20:20; 2 Chronicles 32:30). Built in 735 BC by King Hezekiah, this tunnel is one of the

engineering marvels of the ancient world. Our special guide will explain the tunnel to us in great detail and then

we will have the awesome opportunity to actually walk through it! This is like walking through a piece of the

Bible itself and it will be an experience you will never forget! Upon exiting Hezekiah’s Tunnel, we will see the

newly-excavated Pool of Siloam (John 9:7), where Jesus met and healed the man blind from his birth (John

9:1). Lon will give a devotional at this exciting spot, after which we will return the short distance to our deluxe

hotel for dinner and overnight.

October 26, 2018 – After breakfast, we head off towards the Dead Sea. We will stop halfway down the road

connecting Jerusalem to Jericho at the Inn of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:30). Here we will see the ruins of

the Crusader fortress that was built on this spot and Lon will share a devotional based on that wonderful passage

of Scripture. We will head to the ancient town of Bethany. This town was the hometown of Mary, Martha, and

Lazarus--and the place where the events of John 11 occurred and where Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead.

Lon will share a devotional here, after which you will have the chance to see the burial tomb where Lazarus lay

before Jesus raised him back to life. We will also have the thrilling opportunity to sing and worship in the

beautiful church here, an experience that you will never forget! We will then head off to one of the highlights of

our time in the Holy Land: a walk into the monastery of St. George. First, we stop on the south side of the

massive Wadi Kelt near Jericho at the “Valley of the Shadow.” This is the traditional site where David wrote

the 23rd Psalm, and Lon will give a sermon here on this massive passage of scripture. Then we will cross over to

the north side of the Wadi Kelt Gorge and walk into the Monastery of St. George that is precariously perched on

the inside wall of the cliff. This is an experience that is simply impossible to describe in words, and it is one you

will never forget! This monastery was built in the 5th century A.D. and it is still an operating Greek Orthodox

Monastery to this very day. Dinner and overnight at our lovely hotel in Jerusalem.

October 27, 2018 – Following another restful night and hearty Israeli breakfast, we drive west from Jerusalem

to the village of Abu Ghosh, the ancient site known as Kirjath-jearim in the Bible. The Ark of the Covenant

was housed here for 20 years, from the time it was returned by the Philistines (1 Sam 7:1-2) until the time it was

brought to Jerusalem by King David (2 Sam 6:17). Lon will share a devotional here that focuses on these

biblical events. From here, we go to the Valley of Elah where David faced and defeated Goliath (1 Sam 17).

Time will be taken here for a message by Lon. After lunch, we will visit the ancient port city of Joppa. It was

here where Jonah boarded a ship headed in the opposite direction from Ninevah where the Lord had told him to

go (Jonah 1:3). It was also here in Joppa that Peter had the vision of the sheet coming down from heaven (Acts

10), which resulted in his leading the first Gentile in the history to faith in Christ (Cornelius). Here Lon will

share a sermon. From Joppa, we head to dinner and then to the airport in nearby Tel Aviv to check in for our

flight back to the States.

October 28, 2018 – This morning, we land in the USA with unforgettable memories of the Holy Land to

cherish forever.
