  • ADVANCED MANAGEMENT PROGRAMME FOR MANUFACTURING

    AND OPERATIONS 2020-21

  • INDIAN MANUFACTURING• Expected to touch USD 1 trillion by 2025

    • With an added push from ‘Make in India’ initiative, manufacturing and its sub-sectors will need 100 million skilled workforces by 2022

    • Automation and machines are taking over the world, and the humans will require original and creative thinking, adaptability, and the willingness to work collaboratively

    • Robotic Engineering and hardware engineering will be the most sought-after skills by 2022

“There can be no better place than India to manufacture, expand, and grow”.SHRI NARENDRA MODI - PRIME MINISTER OF INDIA

  • ABOUT THE ADVANCED MANAGEMENT PROGRAMME FOR MANUFACTURING AND OPERATIONSManufacturing has emerged as one of the high growth sectors in India. Prime Minister of India, Mr Narendra Modi, had launched the ‘Make in India’ programme to place India on the world map as a manufacturing hub and give global recognition to the Indian economy. India is expected to become the fifth largest manufacturing country in the world by the end of the year 2020.

The new growth trajectory will result in the need for skills, other than just domain competency. Pro-activeness and understanding of market competition will be an essential skill for success in the manufacturing sector. Indian players must develop a better strategy to understand their customers and the changing patterns, to remain competitive against China.

Professionals at middle and senior management level will have to acquire additional skills, other than just domain competency. Innovation, data analysis, competitive strategy, negotiation skills, understanding Industry 4.0, etc., will be a must to remain relevant in the highly competitive business landscape that manufacturing and engineering verticals thrive in.

  • “As the Indian economy surges forward, the manufacturing sector increasingly takes centre stage. A strong and vibrant manufacturing base is a prerequisite for India’s growth, as we overcome global and local challenges. The Munjal Institute for Global Manufacturing will play a significant role in taking India’s manufacturing to the next level, through research insights and education. Indian manufacturers have an advantage when adapting to the dynamic and ever-changing needs of consumers, because of Design Thinking, Digitalisation, Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things and strong information technology services in the country. With the government’s ambitious plans of making India a global manufacturing hub, ISB’s Advanced Management Programme for Manufacturing and Operations will develop a network of leaders in the manufacturing and supply chain space, to lead modernisation, business transformation and enhanced performance.”

Rajendra Srivastava - Dean and Novartis Professor of Marketing Strategy and Innovation, Indian School of Business

    • Adopting a scientific, data-driven approach to resolving business risks

    • Recognise emerging trends in the manufacturing industry and be prepared to leverage them for one’s organisation

    • Experiential learning through team-based solving of a real-life problem

    • Learn specifics about new products and their launch

    • Developing a strategic outlook for management of Operations in a company

    • Acquiring an understanding of the manufacturing ecosystem

“India’s growth in the next decade will be significantly influenced by the manufacturing sector’s contribution to our GDP, which is currently at about 17%. In order to achieve this vision in an increasingly global and competitive environment, it has become imperative to transform the way we look at our manufacturing and operations value chain.

Customers today expect increasingly personalised products and services; frequently through various modes of service delivery. Companies, in response, are having to adapt their business processes to these changing consumer trends and demands.

The Forth Industrial Revolution (popularly called as Industry 4.0) is expected to transform the entire value chain by leveraging state-of-the-art digital technologies. Indian companies are no more isolated and would go through disruptions because of Industry 4.0. The Advanced Management Programme for Manufacturing and Operations is an excellent opportunity for middle and senior executives to appreciate the modern concepts of management that can be leveraged to achieve competitiveness in the manufacturing sector”.

Chandan Chowdhury - Associate Dean and Practice Professor, Indian School of Business; Executive Director, Munjal Institute for Global Manufacturing and Punj Lloyd Institute of Infrastructure Management

Accordingly, the Indian government has put forth the National Manufacturing Policy to enable the robust growth of the manufacturing sector.
