Ps. David Thien

All the testimonies in the Conference were presented with true feelings.

Only when the disciples are shepherded in real feelings that they can

grow healthily. Work accomplishments cannot determine if a person is

healthy spiritually. This concept stirs up my self-reflection, that I need to

express my feelings and opinions more, because I realized now that

emotional health contributes to good relationships.

During the Conference, a disciple expressed himself to me that he hoped

I would speak to his life, and I also realized I seldom, in discipleship, di-

rectly spoke to lives of my disciples. It now dawns on me that my disci-

ples desire being corrected and pruned. My hope is that I can adjust my

pastoral direction, to spend more time on them, be concerned about

their emotional needs.

Ps. Sarah Chang

I discerned through this Conference the importance of spiritual life, that

impressive outward appearance is never the yardstick of true success.

Individual relationship with God, our own spiritual life, spousal and fam-

ily relationships are genuine keys to success. Mutual submission to unity

can achieve great things for God, and that is a core value based on

“Relationship before Ministry”.

All those who shared messages and testimonies on stage were key suc-

cessful market leaders, who also served in church, outwardly we would

judge as good life models. Nevertheless, Rev. Joshua Cheung and wife

continued to pastor and disciple them, as what they valued most was

spiritual life not accomplishments. I truly admire their courage in facing

all possible pastoral conflicts, boldly “deworming” – pointing out weak-

nesses in their disciples, observing unobtrusively their spousal and family

relationships before actions. That is one thing I need to learn. Likewise I

very much appreciate their disciples, individual accomplishment and

position in the marketplace aside, their willingness to submit themselves

to being pruned and corrected, is something I need to emulate, to also

being pruned and corrected by my own authority.

IP. Elijah Ooi

The central theme of the Conference is based on the Core Value “First

God, then man, and the earth”. 611HK implemented their discipleship on

family and the marketplace with this core value and harvested whole-

some transformations. Those opened to this discipleship experienced

breakthroughs in life. When the spousal relationship is rectified, the

home is transformed, bringing improvements to ministry and pastoral

effectiveness. True relationship must de facto based on truth, true open-

ness and true honest emotion. The Conference caused me to realize

that I lacked true emotion and element of empathy (the blue color in the

Inside Out Movie) . As a result of this lack, I could not see real break-

through in my shepherding, because I would always focus on ministry.

May the LORD heal me, regaining my “blue color” so that I can share

emotions, able to restore life’s various relationships. When we have

true relationships, ministries will come and prosper.

IP. Helen Fung

The weakness of man is mostly related to emotional blockage, self-

directed good feelings, poor communication or disorder in life priority.

Yet, when a person willingly humble oneself, listen and submit oneself

to discipline from the authority, he/she will certainly overcome the

weakness. Pruning is never painless, but this pain can empower and mo-

tivate us to overcome our weaknesses, the end result will be great and

wonderful.

1. Wife should Submit to Her Husband (Eph 5: 21-24) A good family comprises a father, a mother and children. The key lies in the husband. When it comes to human relations, the husband and wife relationship is the most important. In order to be blessed, the husband and wife relationship needs to be good. A) Be Submissive

To be submissive is to be under a person's authority, and to comply fully. Being submissive to a husband means acknowledging his efforts, understanding and accepting his feelings. If a wife does not submit to their husband, then she is not submitting completely unto the Lord.

B) Be Respectful Being respectful is showing deep admiration for another person. "Giving face" to the husband is a respectful act on the outside, whereas true respect is honouring the husband from the depths of heart. In short, to be respectful is to praise him and to admire him from deep within.

2. Husband should Love His Wife (Eph 5: 25-33) How should a husband love his wife? He is to love her more than him-self, and be willing to die for her. This love is called the Agape love ( like how God died for us) - It is exactly the kind of love God expects of a husband towards his wife.

A) Blameless (Eph 5: 27b) To be blameless is not to have any stains. Stains here refers to stains on the skin. Only with constant cleaning can the skin be spared from stains. Husband needs to always remind himself to check out the needs of his wife so that his wife and their marriage will be blameless.

B) Unwrinkled (Eph 5: 27b) Wrinkles are revealed on the skin, it is also a sign of ageing. Hus-band ought to be alert. He needs to make sure that his relationship with his wife will not keep ageing, instead be able to rekindle the passion.

C) To Feed (Eph 5: 29b) To feed is to moisturise. Husband is to let his wife look pretty for him.

D) To Care for (Eph 5: 29b) Husband needs to be concerned over his wife's feelings and emo-tions, and be able to build her up in different areas of her life.

3. Children should Obey Their Parents (Eph 6: 13) A) To Obey in the Lord

The limits to obey is set in the Holy Bible. If the acts of obedience requires going against God's Word, then children can consider whether or not to obey. Children who respects God will naturally respect their parents.

B) To Honour Honour comes from the heart. It is to acknowledge the identity of parents by words and actions, never complaining or criticising them.

C) Will Enjoy Blessings and Long Life God's first commandment for His people is to honour their par-ents. In fact the secret to long life is to honour our parents.

4. Father should Train, Instruct and Nurture (Eph 6: 4) A) Not to exasperate your children

Never discipline children when in anger as it only causes children to live in fear. Instead, discipline them with love and empathy.

B) To Bring Them Up in the Training and Instruction of the Lord

Nurture your children. Fulfil their deficiency and insufficiency. ■
