Improve Your SkillsThe St. Mary’s Advanced Trauma Life Support® course is designed for primary care physicians, surgeons, emergency medicine physicians, and physician extenders who care for trauma patients in the realm of practice.

The ATLS® course is designed to reduce morbidity and mortality rates for trauma patients. The purpose of this course is for participants to be familiar with the initial assessment and management of the trauma patient.

This two-day course consists of core content lectures, case presentations, discussions, development of life-saving interventional skills, and practical experience.

Lectures are given in the morning and practical skills stations are reserved for the afternoon. Lectures include Airway and Ventilation, Thoracic Trauma Management, Abdominal Trauma Management, Spine and Spinal Cord Trauma, Musculoskeletal Trauma, Injury Due to Heat and Cold, Shock Management, Initial Assessment, Head Trauma Management, Injuries Due to Burns and Cold, Pediatric Trauma, Geriatric Trauma, Trauma in Women, and Stabilization and Transport.

Courses will be held on the campus of St. Mary’s Adult and Pediatric Trauma Center, located at 3700 Washington Ave, Evansville, Indiana. Lectures will be presented in the Amphitheater. Skill stations will be located in the classrooms on the lower level.

Continuing Medical EducationThe American College of Surgeons is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
