Requirements & Course DescriptionESL 54 or equivalent level of English
intensive review of grammar and increase confidence in formulating a variety of sentences
enhance competency in standard written English with a focus on writing strong paragraphs and developing good essays

Course Evaluation Policy

GRADES
90-100% = A = excellent work 80-89% = B = good work 70-79% = C = average work 60-69% = D = not satisfactory work for credit 59% and below = F = failing work for this level CREDIT/NO CREDIT class, so your final grade
must be at least 70% to pass the class and move on to ESL 54. If you do not get 70%, you will receive NON-CREDIT (NC), and you must repeat the class.
NOTE ON LATE PAPERS & HOMEWORK
All work must be turned in on time. Late work will not be accepted unless very exceptional
circumstances exist. If I decide to accept late work, the grade will be dropped
one letter grade. No make-up quizzes will be given. No make-up tests will
be given unless the student has talked with the teacher about it before the test.
What is plagiarism?
Stealing the ideas or words of an-other without crediting the original source. Copying from other source word for word without giving credit to the original writer is cheating.
Get help to improve your English, not to have someone else do your work for you.
If a student is found cheating on a quiz, test or assignment he or she will get a zero in that assignment.
Automatic “F” grade
If you : Use other’s ideas as yours . Cheat in assignments, exams, tests or quizzes.
Copy word for word from books, magazines or any other sources without quoting the source.
