Speakers & Topic: Richard Rahn (CPIM) and Gerard Leone are principals with Leonardo Group Americas, a Lean training and consulting company with offices in Boulder and Munich. Richard and Gerard have been full-time Lean consultants since 1994, and have mentored some of the world’s most successful companies, including John Deere, Boeing, and GE. They are currently launching the Lean Design Institute, a platform for online education and certification in Mixed Model Line Design and Mixed Model Material Management.
Since 2012 Leonardo Group Americas has been teaching workshops on Mixed Model Material Management, hosted at Toyota Material Handling in Columbus, Indiana. They’ve learned a lot just by spending time inside one of North America’s best factories, and in this presentation they will share with you the “Top 10” biggest eye-opening practices and methods that they have seen in use. All of these practices relate to supply-chain and material management, and will be of great interest to the APICS community. You will be surprised! Leonardo Group Americas was founded by Richard Rahn and Gerard Leone, Lean practitioners with over 20 years of consulting experience with many of the world's Lean leaders. Honey’s Happenings… It may seem sudden, but windy March is already here! I hope it brings another successful month your way.
In the coming weeks our Nominations Chairman will publish a slate of officers for the 2017-2018 year. If you are interested in a position please contact one of our officers. The final slate of officers will be voted on by the members present at our April Professional Development Dinner meeting. We have a lot going on in education! A full set of education programs is being offered by the Colorado APICS Chapter. 2017 will provide opportunities for continuing your lifelong learning with APICS CPIM, CSCP and the new CLTD certification programs. Look for the course schedules in the following pages and sign up soon! There are great networking opportunities this month with our Professional Development (Dinner) Meeting on March 8th at the Renaissance Flatirons. Register soon and join us. Education News Our BSCM course has completed for our Winter/Spring CPIM, but you can still sign up for
the other four courses of the CPIM. CLTD has started for this session but you can still sign
up for CSCP for the March 18 start date. See schedules in this newsletter.
Again this semester I want to thank DirecTV/AT&T and Hunter Douglas for their generosity and professionalism and allowing us to use their world class training rooms for our APICS
courses. Letting us use these classrooms really helps us keep costs down and is an
excellent example of Corporate Social Responsibility! THANK YOU!
As I said last month, during the summer of 2017, APICS will revise the CPIM program to include only 2 exams/courses
instead of 5. Currently the 5 exams/courses are Basics of Supply Chain Management, Master Planning of Resources,
Detailed Scheduling and Planning, Execution and Control of Operations, and Strategic Management of Resources. In the future plan there will still be a Basics of Supply Chain Management Exam and then there will be 1 exam that covers all
the other areas of CPIM. Folks will have until September 2017 to complete the current BSCM exam. The Current BSCM will also count toward the next configuration of CPIM. Students will have until the end of 2018 to take the remaining
four exams in the current program, although they will have to get their ATT (Authorization to Test) by July 1, 2018.
It is still our plan that this Winter/Spring session will be the final chance to take the CPIM in the current format, that is,
smaller pieces of SCM per exam and class. For those of you that like this narrow focus per exam/course sign up now for CPIM.
Please let me know if you would like to schedule a discussion about a private APICS course for your company, we can
accommodate a variety of formats. About 50% of our courses are given in this format so it is a very common request.
Please take a look at our CPIM, CSCP and CLTD courses offered this Winter/Spring, to find the class that fits your needs and schedule.

Welcome to 2017 Winter Courses
Please complete your registration early. Classes are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis and some facilities have limited class space. In addition, classes may be canceled if there is insufficient enrollment. CPIM Classes run from 1 to 10 weeks. Generally, eight/ten-week courses meet once per week and four/five-week courses meet twice per week. CPIM, CLTD and CSCP Saturday classes are 8 hours plus an hour for lunch.
