Christmas-time is here- the most wonderful time of the year! A

chance to celebrate the birth of baby Jesus and remember the

true meaning of the season. Throughout the month of

December, we will be taking time to read the true meaning of Christmas, as well as enjoying the season as a

whole. We will use our senses in the science area to explore the season- the smells, sights, tastes, and more.

In the art area, we will work on patterns as we create ornaments and other art. Our author spotlight will

focus on the Bible and other stories that tell us about the birth of baby Jesus, as well as some fun Christmas

books! Additionally, we will learn about a seasonal favorite- gingerbread! We will also focus on how we can

spread joy this holiday season!

Looking back to November, we enjoyed our food and nutrition theme. Our preschoolers really grasped the

idea of sorting food into food groups and talking about healthy/unhealthy foods. The Tuesday/Thursday

class read If You Give a Pig a Pancake by Laura Numeroff and then made pancakes for snack! Preschoolers

worked together to measure, pour, and stir the ingredients together. The Monday/Wednesday/Friday class

participated in a turkey egg drop- predicting what would happen to eggs when placed in baggies of different

materials (rice, cotton balls, etc) and then dropping them to the ground. Both activities were a hit! We read

lots of silly Thanksgiving themed books and learned how to use our manners at the Thanksgiving table.

Both classes took time each day in November to discuss what it means to be thankful and state what they

were thankful for each day. We prayed and gave thanks for all things that make us thankful!

Thank you to all who participated in our Fall 2019 Cookie Dough Fundraiser! It was a success! If you haven’t

already, be sure to take a peak at our beautiful new science/math shelf in the classroom! Also, thank you to

Mrs. Gletty for donating your time to pass out the cookie dough when it arrived!

Be sure to check out all of the artwork in our hallway- our preschoolers have worked so hard and we love to

show off their hard work!

Fall conferences are done and were successful! We are so thankful to our families for taking the time to

meet with us- we know how busy life can be, we just love to discuss the accomplishments our preschoolers

have made!

Be sure to mark your calendars! Our 2019 OHP Christmas Program will be on Thursday, December 12th, 2019

at 6:00 in the evening at the United Methodist Church of Waterman. Our theme this year is “Follow the

Star”, which is based on a sweet, easy to understand children’s book by Make Believe Ideas. We have been

practicing every day and cannot wait to share our hard work!

Christmas parties will take place on Thursday, December 19th and Friday, December 20th.

There is NO SCHOOL Monday, December 23- Friday, January 3rd, 2020.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Reminder: If you are in

the church during the

week please turn off the

lights, check to make sure

no water is running and

the doors are locked.

Thank you!
