Brightline, the express train service that will run between West Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale and Miami, has announced its partnership with Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) to provide clean biodiesel to fuel the

trains. FPL, which has used clean, high-quality biodiesel as a fuel for its trucks for nearly two decades, will supply Brightline with 2 million gallons of biodiesel-blended fuel annually under a two-year contract.

“This fueling partnership with FPL is a great example of two Florida-based companies working together to create jobs and utilize local resources,” said Tom Rutkowski, Brightline’s chief mechanical officer.

“FPL has long been committed to energy independence as well as environmental stewardship,” said Sam Forrest, vice president of energy marketing and trading for FPL.

The Young Professionals of the Palm Beaches (YPOP) toured the ESPN West Palm office at the June YPOP Hotspot. Guests had the chance to record their own SportsCenter update in the studio and listen in on a live broadcast.

YPOP is a subgroup of the Chamber of Commerce of the Palm Beaches that provides great opportunities for professionals under the age of 40 to network and educate themselves on important issues facing the Palm Beach County area. The Chamber encourages YPOP members to become more involved throughout the community and serve as leaders in the area. YPOP meets twice a month at varying

locations. Events are free to Chamber Members.

Our next YPOP event is scheduled for July 6 at the Hospice Resale Shop from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Every person that brings a donation item will receive a $5 gift card for the shop! Contact Marissa Kosiec at [email protected] for more information about the event and joining YPOP.

Looking to attract business? Increase your visibility and sales by appearing in the Chamber’s 2017-2018 Education Guide to the Palm Beaches. This award-winning, full-color publication is used as a resource directory by Chamber members, residents, tourists and visitors to Palm Beach County.

The Chamber prints 2,500 copies

of the Guide and each member of the Chamber is included in the membership listings.

The Education Guide will debut at the Back-To-School Breakfast on Thursday, August 24, where 400 area business men and women will leave with a copy hot off the press. It will also be available in the Chamber’s lobby and in digital

format online at www.palmbeaches.org. The deadline to join is July 25, and

you must be a Chamber member to be included. This is just one of the many benefits of membership!
