Joel Jacobs is a professional percussionist based out of London, Ontario. A graduate of Humber College’s elite percussion program, Joel has been offering percussion instruction for over six years.
He has not only recorded and toured with bands such as The Light of East Ensemble, the Scott Szeryk Band, Final Legion, Combat Frogs, Whiskey Sinners, Impulse, Whiplash Blues, In Broken Midst (Pre-Terrorhorse), The Constructionists, and a variety of jazz, blues, metal and rock ensembles in London and Toronto, but has been personally trained by world-class percussionists Brian McHugh, Mark Kelso and Paul Delong.He is currently recording and regularly touring with the Whiplash Blues, The Light of East Ensemble, The Con-structionists, and Final Legion. III. Lessons
Students will not only learn the rudimentary knowledge required to play their favorite music, but will also be exposed to a variety of percussive styles including, but not limited to, jazz, latin, rock, metal, dance, blues, and hand-drumming.
Joel also integrates musical theory into each lesson and suggests fun take-home exercises for students to work on throughout the week. This ensures their steady progress as musicians.
Lessons are taught in his at-home studio near Masonville Mall, where students will have access to his acoustic kit, electric drumset, and a variety of hand-drums.
Joel has instructed over 30 students, ranging from ages 5-55, over the past six years.
