KONGSBERG has been prime contractor in cruise missile design development andmanufacturing for over 40 years The Penguin Anti-Ship Missile developed in thesixties is still one of the preferred anti-ship weapons carried by helicopters

The Naval Strike Missile (NSM) and the Joint Strike Missile (JSM) represent thelatest generation of Precision Strike Missiles from KONGSBERG the JSM is stillunder development

The NSM is today marketed for naval ships and coast defence systems on thelatter the missile is launched from trucks The JSM is designed to be carriedboth externally and internally in the weapons bay of the F-35 Lightning II

Both missiles have a passive imaging IR seeker and combined with high maneuver-ability and low signature they are able to penetrate highly defended targets bothat land and sea High maneuverability is achieved by high aerodynamic efficiencyand an all composite airframe

KONGSBERG as prime contractor is involved from Conops (Concept of Operation)developed together with our customer through to design and development of themissile A number of the sub-systems in the missile is designed and developedby KONGSBERG hence this gives KONGSBERG a good understanding of trade-offsrequired in aerospace design and development work
